Has anyone seen any of the litter box furniture they have? Or own some? For those who don't know what it is, essentially it's a piece of functional furniture that you can place the litter box in and discard from sight, but the piece has a door hole for the cat to enter/exit. They're pretty pricey, starting around $100 and going up to $300, so I personally wouldn't buy one, but I was thinking of making one. Essentially it'd be a make-shift chest with an entrance/exit hole, and I'd staple carpeting to the exterior. If I do make one at some point I'll post pictures. That was just one idea I had, based off of one of the pieces I saw online. I'm not a fancy carpenter or anything so I doubt I could pull off a nice looking piece of furniture, although I was thinking that you could use an old dresser or something of that nature and just turn it into one but removing a few pieces and using the scraps for a door or whatever.

Yes I have seen one! A friend has one, only thing is like you they MADE it! Its sort of like an endtable in the second bedroom. Its turned so the opening doesn't face the door and if you didn't know better, you wouldn't have a clue. I think if you have the skill, go for it! My friend's cat uses it all the time and has no problems. Just make sure to make it big enough in there so the cat can sit up while going potty. Oh and if your cat(s) are anything like mine they like a private place to go potty! Would love to hear more if/when you make one! Are you new?? I don't recognize the name! Welcome! Its a great place here and you will get lots of support and ideas and just plain funny stories!

Yeah, after talking it over with my girlfriend, I'm going to scrap the two dressers we have and use them to make one (just need to find a place where I can take my wood to get cut). But it doesn't look to be too difficult. And yeah, I'm sort of new and I've gotten a lot of good advice and help from people here, and it's appreciated since I'm new to having cats and what not. So thanks for the welcome. :)

No, the one I'm doing now won't have carpeting on it. I'll show you the one that had carpeting, the one I was deriving my earlier inspiration from.
The one I'll be making will just look like a wooden chest of sorts.
The smell retention did come to mind earlier though, I just assumed no matter what, whatever the litter box was in would smell to a degree.

I've seen them on Drs. Foster & Smith catalog. They all have carpeting. I like the idea of an all wooden one. I think it's a great idea if your bathroom is too small for a litter box.
