Charges are to be filed for a misdemeanor - false reporting - against the family - I don't think the DA is sure who exactly to charge as yet, but the talk here in Colorado is that is will happen this week. The family's house was searched yesterday and at least one computer was seized as well as other items, like the box the boy hid in for all those hours. I think the parents of these kids are idiots!!!

All three children need to be taken by Colorado's version of Child Protective Services; this, IMHO, is child exploitation.

I've known a few people who grew up in foster care on and off during childhood. That is not necessarily a better situation, although there are many devoted foster parents who are good decent people who do wonderful work with troubled kids.

It might be better to leave the kids with their parents but have family services heavily involved in both counseling the kids and counseling the parents in appropriate parenting skills.
