MC's CALL TO ARMS, prepare the whack bonk sticks!

(113 posts)
  1. Please get your whack bonk sticks out and ready. There is going to be somebody's head who rolls, hopefully it isn't mine. Called the neurosurgeon's office today and I was "added" to the end of his schedule on THURSDAY! I told her I was suffering from a headache and nausea today. She said ALL his patients are important, I am no more or less than anyone else. If I continue to have problems I am free to go back to the ER. OMG, I am so angry right now. I am beginning to understand why people give up, its just not worth the fight!

  2. Call her back,Amy,and tell her your "brain juice is leaking out of your head" and see if that makes an impression. Jesus H!!! <sorry to put it that way but sometimes you got to shock them out of that "every pt is important". If you can't get any understanding from this woman please just go to the ER.

  3. I told her I was still oozing. She said that I need to keep it bandaged and covered. You can't imagine how I was on the phone, I don't think I left much of an impression on her (unless you count the b*tchy patient I was!)

  4. MC...I'm so sorry the neurosurgeon & staff are treating you this way. It sounds as tho you may have to go to ER to keep yourself safe & from harm's way. I wish I wasn't so far away from you...I would be their in a nano-second. And I know Betty & Wilma would have no problems accepting me & you would be able to rest.
I do have my beautiful but, vicious & accurate Green Whack Bonk stick in hand & ready. If I start hitch-hiking now,do you think I'll get to you before Thursday?
    Hang In there my Friend!

  5. MC....Please go to the ER. What idiots they're being. How can you keep covered & bandaged what you can't see?

  6. OMG ! That office needs more than whack-bonk sticks ! Mine is at the ready - Susie - you can ride with me, and I may well be on a high-powered broomstick !

MC - get back to the ER. And make sure the NS knows the type of treatment you received from the front office. That is just all kinds of wrong !

  7. Sharpening my Whack Bonk Stick to answer call!!!!! Drs. & Staff...Grrrrrrrrrrr!!

  8. MC, that's ridiculous! Is it just the nurse at the surgeon's office treating you like this or the surgeon as well? I always have problems with the staff at my doctor's office to the point where I've stopped going a few times. The doctor is always surprised when he doesn't see me for a while.
I would recommend you go to the ER. Maybe you'll find the same competent doctor and he can light a fire under NS's behind.

  9. Go back to the ER! Hopefully you can get the same doctor that got his attention last time. Do you have an Urgent Care facility? they are typically much quicker than ERs.

  10. GRRRRRRRRRRR! I would be livid, too! Doctors and hospitals are unreal nowadays! They certainly don't care like they used to! Maybe you could keep calling your neuro many times daily to bug them and see if that gets you anywhere! Ask to speak to the almighty doctor himself! Yeah, right...I know, dream on! Sending HUGS your way! That place needs more than just wack/bonk sticks!

  11. *rummages in closet for whack-bonk stick with the pointy nurses cap and red cross on the end*

MC, I simply cannot fathom the lack of concern by the staff at your neuro surgeons office. It would seem to me that the nausea you are experiencing today could be related to the level of CSF. Certainly you should not have drainage of any kind and that is what is so worrying to me. My nursing recommendation is exactly like Buttercup's. I would call back, and didn't you say that they have a PA in that office? Ask to speak to him rather than whoever is answering the phone. If you are unable to convince them that you need to be seen today, then I would strongly urge you to return to the ER. Once there, they will have to call your neurosurgeon.

Not knowing what all the cultures showed, I'm just "supposing" here. But it sure would seem to me like you need to be on some powerful IV antibiotics.

  13. MC, go to the ER that is what they are there for. I can't believe that they are treating you this way. Yes all patients are important. Call back, (if you haven't already) and ask to speak to the doc. If he says it is ok to wait then fine, if he says go to ER or come in at least you are getting it from him rather than than a receptionist.

  18. ER immediately MC! I learned somethings today about the medical field. No one cares about you except you and your family and friends. If somethings happens your neurosugeon will not be there with your family and friends. You have to be your advocate and that is what you were doing with the nurse. You were doing what they will not do--take care of you. Go to the ER. You know they will require you to see a neurosurgeon to get help--they can just do it faster. Please go to the ER!

Emma and WWM I took my whack-bonk stick out of its case and I am in full hospital gown ninja gear! Pick me up on the way--I'm feeling a littel fiesty!

  19. pick me up too. i am also feeling more than a little fiesty. how dare they risk your health because of their schedule...

  21. Amy that is terrible!!! I'd go back to the ER right now to make sure you are okay and maybe find another neurosurgeon. Anyone with a heart who heard that you were nauseated and had a headache and were leaking fluid would make a spot for you right away. Hugs

  22. Gallo and I are ready to roll..... I can't stand the way the some dr. And the staff treat people! as bon qui qui would say " I will cut " the dr. Honestly , I think that you should go to the ER, and when they call your tell them to send your chart over and demand a new DR.... I would also tell your current dr that while you understand that he has other patients, you hope that none of them have to endure the treatment you have recieved. I would also think about a malpractice suit, due to the negulance on his part. If you want I will go fly up there and help you because I can not stand for someone in my family go through this. Really, I have no problem helping you.... Olga

  23. Garbo is on her way with my shillelagh - it's blackthorn and it packs a mighty punch. How DARE they treat you like that. Complain loudly, write to the press, publish how badly you've been treated name names ................ GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!

    Posted 1 month ago by Pollys_Mum_in_UK_2605 #

  24. I echo what's been said - go to the ER. If you can get someone else to take you, that's better than driving yourself. If the headache is so severe it keeps you from driving safely, don't drive.

I can see both sides of the doctor office issue. The doctor is probably scheduled with back-to-back patients (or maybe I mean head-to-head) and doesn't have an opening. Given the discounted reimbursements from insurance and the insurance companies telling doctors they can't spend more than 15 minutes per patient, a doctor's day is really tight.

But his office person should take your information, go talk to the doctor and then call you back with his advice. Or, if the doctor is concerned, he can call you himself. That takes much less time than an actual appointment.

And even if you are no more or less important than any of his other patients, your medical condition may be more urgent.

  25. MC71, as a patient with an "Orphan" disease, can you see a way to get the organization to get your situation on the National News? Nothing like the glare of headlights to make the other guy blink.

  26. I can only hope that lack of communication for the past 3 hours from MC means she is in the ER.
