  1. Hey everyone!

So, I was doing some work and raja comes along looking for attention. He meows by my leg and i prepare for him to jump onto my lap (he loves sleeping there) anyways, he only gets 2 of his paws onto my shorts and begins to slip
He deploys his rear claws...on my leg... Its about an 8 cm cut in length. It did bleed but .. I applied antiseptic/washed it/pressured it. Hes had all his shots and im up to date on tetanus. Should i be concerned?

  2. Keep it clean and watch for reactions. You should be okay but if it starts to swell or is extremely painful do see your doctor. Animals carry all kinds of things. Good he has his shots! Just keep it clean but don't obsess.

  3. Just watch it for possible infection, if you have already cleaned it and both you have had your shots you should be fine.

  6. ahaha, I trimmed them last week and the vet trimmed em like 3 days ago...man they grow quickly.

EDIT: I got his front, vet got his back. I didnt wanna do his back cuz the blood vessels were too close and i didnt wanna hurt the little guy

  8. I'm not a professional, but my cat has scratched me pretty bad one time (and it was actually my fault) but like they said keep it clean and use antiseptics.
Also if it gets red get a marker pen and draw a circle round the wound and if the redness grows out of the circle then you might want to go to the doctor.

That may be sighs of mercer and don't mean to scare you but that is very serious.

  9. I've heard of something called "cat scratch fever," but that may be more likely with a puncture wound like a bite. I think it is important with any break in the skin to watch it, make sure it is not swelling or getting red streaks running from it and that you are not getting a fever. It sounds like you've done everything you should to avoid infection. Good job!

  10. Tee hee, KW, I've edited papers on cat scratch fever! As far as I know, it really only becomes a problem with immune-compromised people. I agree with the others, sounds like you've done everything you need to, hopefully you've forgotten all about your wound by now...

  11. Again I'm not a professional but my wife got bit by a cat once and her hand swelled up and she went to the doctor and he told her if she hadn't have come in then she could have lost her hand. Also you are more prone to get cat scratch fever from a yard cat or stray cat than a indoor cat.

Reason, a stray eats any thing from garbage to dead things but even if your bit by a indoor cat it still needs to be looked after.
