(9 posts)
  1. HI all-

I am going to be out of town for 48 hours and leaving my six month old kitten home alone. I do have a kitty sitter that will come by and check on her. My question is if she comes by for an hour and a half each day is that enough???? I am so worried that she will be lonley....

  4. i suggest you start grovelling well in advance. lots of new toys, and blankies, and juicy bits of food . . . i always keep a blankie or teddy bear or whatever with me before i go away - i stuff it in my shirt, sleep with it, keep it in my handbag, so my kitties can have something that smells like mommy. i did that for my dog when she had parvo, a teddy for her cage in iso icu, the vet swears it was the thing that pulled her through, having her mom 'there' while she was sick.

  5. What a good idea Skyron, I am going a way from Christams for about 5 days, maybe I'll leav somethuign that smells like me in Sophie's bed.

  6. Skyron has a very good point cause I read post on her sometime ago where a person
left for work her cat would some how open the dresser draw where she kept her blouses and the cat would open the drawer a take a blouse out and put it under the bed and lay on it. She was told the cat did that cause she loved her and needed something to remind her will she was gone, so she got a blouse she didn't care about and left it under the bed and it worked. So what Skylon said will work.

  7. Lioness1, you are good to go. You have taken the steps to have a sitter come in to take care of your kitty. Good for you! I have left my cats, at times, and have had different kittys. Most like the smell of the shirt I wear to bed to comfort them. I have never had a cat who opened a drawer and took it upon themselves to drag it somewhere as Dmanga said, but all cats are different. Keep the options open, all kittys are different. I am sure your kitty will be well and happy, sort of, to see you when you return. However, in my experience, I would make sure you come home with something special for your baby and expect to be ignored for a bit! They don't like it when we go away. Best of luck and let us know how you make out! Hugs.

  8. She will be fine, but she will let you know she is displeased with you when you return. I've left 3 cats alone for a week---they have no sense of time that has passed--to them 7 days or 1 day doesn't make a difference.

  9. If it is possible to have your friend call twice per day, once in the morning and again in the evening, I would do it. We are going away next weekend for 48 hours, and I will pay a cat-sitter to come and stay. She knows our two furkins and will play with them as well as feed and just be there. Personally I think it's worth it.
