he said this wasn't a "shunt" per se. Its more of a drain. It would only stay in five days while I was in ICU flat on my back. Boy would they have to keep me drugged so I wouldn't move. I HATE lying on my back!

It sounds like something that would keep pressure from building on the site that needs to heal, MC. I hope you don't need the corrective surgery, but if you need it you should go for it. I wonder if FF could foster your kitties for you on a temporary basis, should the need arise.

that's true amy it's not a shunt in a sense , when i worked neuro ICU a few years ago ( when i was a wee bit younger)..lol.. we called them EVD external venticular drains... i don't blame you i hate laying on my back to.. please keep me posted on how you are doing... you are in my thoughts and prayers

Well said KW, he liked it to traffic being re-routed while the road hardened. Once the worst was over they could take it out and allow "normal" fluid flow again. Gallo, start sharpening your claws for the office lady!

Oh Amy...I think your NS is a wonderful dr. and I'm so glad you have him on your side! You have been through so much and I sure understand why you'd be so emotionally loaded right now. I think you're just amazing at how well you've done with all this and I'm soooo glad you have FF in your life. Wow, almost just had heart failure. My computer locked up and I couldn't get it to turn back on. Took nearly 45 mins, NOW is NOT the time for my computer to crap out on me. I need my TDK. FF's phone still off. I know he was going to look at a house to paint and it was in a very snooty area so I have a feeling he turned off his phone while there and he is probably busy. Will keep trying though!

i absolutely hate the office staff of my GP. i will not go to him unless absolutely necessary. i talked to his manager, explained the problems. i am not allowed to change to another dr in his group, just because of in an emergency i would not see him. oh well, my diabetes doctor does a great job as being my GP. he is a fantastic doctor, with a sterling reputation, and the staff are great...

I thought I felt the couch filling up, you are all HERE! Must be why Wilma is running back and forth on the couch. She is visiting with each one of you! Betty is hiding under the bed (typical of when I have company!)

Yes, we are here with you, did you think we wouldn't be? Wilma is such a good girl, being tolerant of us invading your space. Betty, on the other hand is watching from her safe spot, letting us in, but cautious just the same. You can feel us as they can, know that we are with you in love. Always.

Yes Cheri I am. NS said that was fine as long as my head was completely covered and I didn't lift anything. I need the insurance, income and of course the vacation time I earn. I am still way behind on bills from my last surgery, have no savings left (medical bills drained me with six surgeries in 8 years), more and more medical bills arrive every day from my last surgery and I have no second income here at my house. I can't even live month to month right now. I have to live by what bills I can push off until the next month and then alternate the next month. I know its crazy but I would probably lose everything if I had to have another surgery. I would surely get evicted cause there is NO WAY I can make this rent with no income. My vacation time is all gone. Sorry for the long rant but I think that is a big part of the underlying fear I have, teetering on the edge of disaster. It scares the hell out of me. So when one of you wins the BIG LOTTO, could you float me a loan?

yes, i also have this underlying fear of having to go to my parents. i am very nearly completely tapped out of money and no way to get more except from the parents. i need to go back to work soon, or i will be on sick leave, no pay. i have been spending, just on the essentials, $600 a month more than i make. i'm scared...

I can't believe that in this country, I am hearing this. To say that I am angry that this beautiful lady can't get the help she needs to save her life, makes her make choices that no one, should ever have to make. So she lives, with her pain, so she can pay her rent, but sacrafices her health, to live.
What is wrong with this picture. And dear lady, know that I admire you, and if I could would give you everything I have to make to well. I will play the lotto in your name and hope something hits.
I know this is for the kittys, but can we help MC in some way? Let me know.

MC, do they put you on a list for donated leave @ work? We have that if we exhaust all our sick and annual leave, so we aren't going on a leave without pay basis.

I expect nothing but love and prayers Lynn. I have got to get my act together and SOON. I want to visit a financial guru to help me figure all this out. I have so many bills from so many doctors from my last surgery I am not sure anymore who I paid what and when. I literally have one of those big plastic bins full. I have got to find a way thru. Cheri and I are living the same fear, I know how she feels. And yes Lynn, it is sooooooo sad in a country like this people barely get by. Not that I don't make fairly ok money, I am ok. Most families today have to have both hubby and wife work just to get by. I don't know how families do that, not at all. I live in total awe of them.

Amy, you have them. I hope that someone can help you with your bills and who you need or not need to pay. I know about Cheri as well, and know that a one income persons such as yourselves, have a very tough time when illness strikes. I see it around me all the time. People who are ill, don't eat, don't take their meds, don't pay their bills, just to survive. You have my email. Let me know if I can help. I pray as well for the families who try to get by, and pray that nothing in their lives threaten that. I pray it doesn't happen to us.
