   Actually this request would be great for the England, Ireland, Scotland, Wales, and Australia too.

   In our history class the students are learning world geography. To make this come alive to them they have chosen a country and are creating reports with science boards about everything they learn. I have helped students that have Korea, Germany, and Austria because I have lived there. All students have written to their countries embassies requesting information about the countries. Many are getting a response. I have one student, who is new, and he is the only one out of 130 students that chose New Zealand. He would love to be able to show students on his board something truly New Zealand. If you can help out I would be over the moon--not as much as he would though!

   What's the time frame for this project SM and what type of information is required. Oh, what's a science board? It's been a while since I was in a classroom.

   It is a large corrigated cardboard that is folded in thirds. The students will draw the countries flag, draw an outline of the country, and post any artifacts that they can gather from the country. Tourist and historical information is what they normally get from the embassies. They love it when they get stickers or product lables that are from their country. In the US our measurements are different so lables always get them. They love it when they get postcards or pictures of special or scenic areas. Anything like that can easily be added to their board. Then they present their country to the class. They prepare a report that includes facts about their country and geographic location. The kids love this project, and I tie it to my fable and folktale unit. I make them find a fable or folktale from the country. Many add that to their science board too. They have already written their letters and have begun looking for their folktales. The whole project is due in about 4 weeks. Presentations take place right before our Thanksgiving. It is a way that they kids can bring in food from their countries to share. It turns into a big celebration of countries. By the way an unique recipe is always good--but it has to be simple enough for the students to make themselves--although I have see some of the dishes in her room and they look pretty intricate to me!

   SoxsMom, I wish I'd been in your class when I was at school. We'll put our heads together, I'm sure we can find a few things. Does MS have your postal address or would you like us to post straight to this lad? He shows mighty good taste by the way, we're small but we're perfectly formed!
