I don't know if I should post this or not

  1. Earlier today I posted a story about a cat that I had when I was a child. The story had a sad ending, but was basically a testament agreeing with another person who had posted about their success taming a feral kitten and about how feral kittens could become wonderful pets.

Well, I got an email at my website email address (which can be accessed on my website by clicking on my avatar) from somebody whose name and email I did not recognize. They said that all I ever post is sad stories and that if all I can do is post about dead cats, I should quit posting here because I am bringing everybody down.

Are my posts really that depressing? Am I bringing everybody down? Is that why nobody commented on my story? According to the email, nobody was commenting on my story because it was a "downer like all my other posts and everybody is getting tired of it."

I know we had this problem before with people getting nasty emails, but like the other emails that were sent to the other people, this person said that they had "chatted with a bunch of other TDKers" and that everybody was in agreement with them. I just want to know if this is true or if this is like those other emails and I should just ignore it.

  2. just ignore them...

  3. Nearly every story of our furry babes ends in the tale of their loss. 1 week, a month, a few years, many years...we are all subjugated to their mortality and shorter life spans.

Your tales are not downers. They are the human experience with all the joys, and laughter and tears and suffering that is attendant with that condition.

    Keep telling your tales.

  4. I hadn't seen the earlier story but I just went back and read it and it made me smile. You have a way of making word pictures and I could just see this little kitten. Unfortunately, kitties have a much shorter life span than we do so our relationships usually end with sadness. I haven't chatted with anyone.

  5. I enjoy your posts, OW. You have a wonderful ability to tell a compelling story and it is an uplifting experience to read them. Don't change a thing. :)

  6. This person is just stirring the pot-ignore their stupid and insensitive comments. I love your stories, and when Redford went to the Bridge, your story gave me such comfort.

  7. Ignore them, they're morons and dipsticks. I am confident no TDKer I know would ever 'chat' in such a mean-spirited and petty way about any of us and furthermore NO ONE one speaks for me but me. I always enjoy reading your stories OW, like KW says, don't change a thing!

  8. OW I clearly missed your post because I sure don't remember it. As for receiving email I am one that received email stating I was not to bring my problems here nor should I ask anyone for prayer. This same individual has posted here with similiar requests and I was heartbroken and very upset. I was also told in my email that they had discussed this the group agreed that I was not to post asking for prayer or support while dealing with anything. What was amazing is the very same person then gets on the thread and did offer support. I found it very interesting. I will tell you this OW ask who the "others" are and then if you have their email you can ask them directly. I have a feeling this was just something like I went through several months ago. I am sorry it happened again to anyone.

  9. SM, I am quite certain that there were no 'others' then and that there are no 'others' now. Someone is just being malicious, and they may well be hiding behind a hijacked email name and address too (remember when Ange supposedly needed monetary help and in fact her email had been hijacked?) I do not believe any of our valued littermates would behave like this to any of us. But even if someone did, they are not worth a second thought and no one who receives this kind of nasty email should worry about it for a moment. {{{SM}}} {{{OW}}}

  10. For those who missed it, here is the story I posted that the email was complaining about:

    http://www.dailykitten.com/chat/topic/22357

I didn't think it was a downer - I just thought it was a nice story about how ferals can make wonderful pets.

  11. It was, OW, it was. I didn't comment because I was in a bit of a rush but it wasn't a downer at all. All of our darling animals, as Ail & CTR point out, have to go to the bridge eventually... It is sad when their lives are shorter but what matters most is that they are good lives.

  12. OW, I agree with the others, whomever sent that email is just trying to cause trouble. I enjoy all your writings including this last one, it did show that any cat/kitten can be a wonderful companion even little hissy, spitting ones. Would like to know who these 'others' are that this person spoke to, emailed or whatever, believe all of it is made up in their small working mind.

  13. Thanks for the support everybody. I thought it was just someone trying to stir up trouble, but it still upset me. I always worry about how some of the things I write are going to be taken - especially when I write about the Rainbow Bridge kitties, which is another thing that was mentioned in the email - "Don't you realize people think you are crazy when you write those things? You should learn to keep your mouth shut about things like that."

Anyway, I will get over it. I have deleted the email, and I will try to forget about it.

  14. OW, not even true about any of your writings, I for one love when you write about the Rainbow Bridge kitties. Whomever is sending the emails should take their own advice and keep their thoughts to themselves, sigh.

  15. If you can find out whoever wrote that email about you, send that person's address to your webmaster (assuming the person who wrote that email is using his/her own email address; if he/she is using someone else's email address, it's gonna be h3ll trying to get this resolved). Meanwhile, Pumpkin's sending 'litter box presents' through the wormhole to whoever dissed you.

  16. Owl, that is a great story. I think we all can relate to fur-friend just like Lulu Belle. Keep writing and I'll keep on reading. I love your stories.

  17. I agree keep posting, these stories are parts of your life that you share with your friends

  18. It was a beautiful story OW, whomever sent you that email is an "insert unfluffy term here"....I'm glad you deleted their email, it's not worth thinking about.

Posted 2 years ago by Annie R #

  19. OW, you write beautifully... ignore those people - THEY are the downers!

Posted 2 years ago by AV #

  20. Geez, OW, I love your writing - don't stop. I missed that post, but just went and read it. It is a beautiful story about a little girl and love, and as mentioned, our kitty stories end in heartache. How often is it that we tell stories of our kitties who are at the Rainbow Bridge? They're gone from us, and we're sad about that, but their lives leave such an imprint that we feel compelled to re-tell their stories to keep them alive in our hearts.
Do you know how much your posts about your furrbabies at the Bridge helped me when Jiggs and Shaddo left?

Posted 2 years ago by JoanfromNewJersey #

  21. OW, don't let this "person" stop you from telling your stories and although some of us don't have time to answer, we have time to read the stories. How dare that person use the line that they "chatted with other TDK'ers" when the person just wanted to stir up trouble. Just ignore it and keep telling your stories to us.

Posted 2 years ago by LadyKat of IA #

  22. OW, don't let some idiot stop you from writing. Your stories are wonderful, especially those about the Rainbow Bridge. And I agree with some of the other posts...there are no "others".

Posted 2 years ago by MaryLynnVa #

  23. OW, your stories are beautiful, and whoever sent you that email is an idiot and a trouble-maker. How childish can one get! Keep writing and posting your stories, OW, Please!

Posted 2 years ago by katthays #

  24. I love your true to life stories OW. They are reflections on life and they stir the soul. Do not stop posting your stories. That person who e-mailed you is very wrong about everyone here.{{{{{HUGS}}}}}

  25. We are all free to read or ignore -anything- posted here, don't let the bullies dictate your content.

Posted 2 years ago by Siobhan #

  26. OW..I just went and read it. It's a good story and a little sad. Whoever dogged you on it..ignore them and remember the greatest of writers throughout history have been criticized. Thank God they didn't stop writing! =)

  27. OW, like others have said, when we talk about a treasured friend who is no longer with us, there is always the sad element of the loss. Your intention was to honor and remember a pet you deeply loved and the love you got in return. I think it is important to share our fond and special memories of the pets that have left there paw prints on our hearts.

With that said, if anyone ever said that to me I would check my history and then tell them that I have reviewed posting history and disagree with their opinion, but if they would like to discuss it further to please email you directly. Since this is a public forum this could have been sent from someone who logged on the for first time ever and just being mean!

  28. I know what I'd do---I'd post that person's name and email address here so that they could actually hear from all of the TDKers that they've already claimed to have talked to! :)

Posted 2 years ago by FondaHonda #

  29. OW please don't stop posting your stories!! While I don't post nearly as much as I used too, I'm almost always lurking. I have always enjoyed your stories as well as ALL of us litter mates! Thank you for alerting us that we have a troll starting more crap. OW, your stories are well written and from your heart. What could be more appropriate on this wonderful site than that? You are a wonderful purrrson who lifts all of us up all of the time!

Now where did I put that whack bonk stick of mine..................

I think I want to go troll hunting!!!!!

  30. OW i just read your story again as I had read it the first time. I didnt comment then, because I think it was just such a perfect story, it needed nothing else. Beautiful beginning, middle and sad but very true end. Not a downer at all. I know very many people personally who can relate to these events. My mom always took in stray dogs and puppies, and they all became great pets, until some terrible end.
Please do not stop writing. Pay no attention to the "haters", in fact let them motivate you to keep writing your wonderful tales. We all need an outlet!!
I am curious as to who these "others" are.... Hmmm
