  1. Sorry bout the illness MCW, I am just getting over my own sinus infection over here. My dogs all decided that since I was sick that they needed to "help" me clean by staling my kleenex. Right now Tita, Meimei and Sweets are all playing on the couch

  2. Well, I'm still in bed, Mr MCW has bought me the lap top up, but the screen is really, really bright, so I'm not going to be able to use it much. Was feeling very rough earlier and did the swine flu online assessment on our National Health Service's website. I thought it would be very borderline or dismiss me altogether, but it's recommended a course of anti virals, and given me a reference number for Chris to quote when he goes to get them tomorrow. Phoned Boss, and said no way tomorrow and dubious Friday. He was very good, especially since Bank are coming to audit the business tomorrow, and as you might have gathered, things are not quite what you'd call stable at the moment. My timing sucks...

  3. Holy cow, MCW, sounds like more drama than you need. Don't trouble yourself about work (maybe the bank will kick boss's butt and get you paid?). Take care of you.

  4. Unfortunately it was the Bank that bounced the salary cheque...

  5. [[[[MCW]]]] I hope you feel better soon.

  6. There's never a good time to be sick, MCW. But it's way better for you to be at home than to go to work and spread all that "cheer". It's awful being sick! Sending you lots of hugs (thankfully long distance)!

  7. MCW - glad you did the assessment and are getting the antivirals - they should cut the duration of the symptoms by a few days. But - if you continue with substantial lung involvement and/or your fever spikes again, you may have a secondary infection and need to see a doc ASAP. I know Mr. MCW will take good care of you, and hopefully the kits will get with the program and start being of more assistance! Hugs! Hope you feel better very soon!

  8. I hope you are feeling better, MCW. As CM says, being sick "sucks monkey toes!" :)

  9. MCW!!!! If you have lung/breathing problems see a physician ASAP! Abbey shamed me into going to the doc today. Smart call and lucky me. No H1N1 for me but infectious bronchitis and pnumonia! Yikes, I'm so glad I went. Please do not ignore breathing problems. Sending lots of good thoughts and hopes for you getting better very soon. All the kitties send head bonks and hopes for you feeling better.

  10. Oh MCW I'm just catching the thread! You sound dreadfully ill! Please take care and eat lots of homemade chicken soup..can Mr. MCW make chicken soup? Get lots of rest, keep warm and drink lots of fluids! *do I sound like a broken record?* Saying a prayer and sending lots of white light for a full recovery hon!

  11. And how is our patient today? Hopefully not passed out on the floor from drinking our home remedy of brandy and lemon!

  12. Hey MCW - grown a curly tail and started grunting yet?

Seriously, get well soon and take good care of yourself in the meantime.

I suppose this means Saturday is definitely off. :( Oh, well never mind. We'll have to do a Christmas one instead.

  13. Does Chris need any chicken soup recipes?

    Posted 4 months ago by KYKAT 12 23 #

  14. MCW, there IS a cough medicine that doesn't taste like...

It's wasn't invented in the 21st century...it was invented in the backwoods of Kentucky...in the 18th century. It's called bourbon. You mix it with lemon juice and some sugar. It works!!!!!

  15. MCW, how are you feeling today? You sounded so c**p when you last posted. Is Nurse Eric still caring for you or has he left it to Chris now.

  16. i like codeine for my cough medicine, but vicodin works too. they both tell my brain not to give a sh** about anything...

Posted 4 months ago by Cheri 12/22 #

  17. Be careful with that stuff Cheri! When I had bronchitis in May, I had the cough medicine with codeine. One night, instead of getting up and getting a spoon and measuring, I just took a small swig. Never NEVER doing that again. I was overdosed myself. We had company and I tried to go to an art fair with everyone the next morning. I ended up throwing up in the gutter. Hubby took me home and it took another 7 hours to get out of my system!

  18. LOL at Cheri - totally agree with that. PM I would be really really up for a UK Xmas meet. GREAT PLAN!
Poor MCW hope you are better soon. Oh, Will be in the Nottingham Goldsmith Premier Inn next Wed night with work like I text you, If you are well by then and not busy then a quick glass of wine in the bar would go down a treat!!

  19. Oink oink littermates. Have actually managed to stay out of bed for a couple of hours this evening, eaten something moderately more substantial than Muller Rice and even - gasp! - had a bath. Well, I was getting pretty manky. All of that has worn me out and I'm back in bed again, but feeling a lot more human than I was. The most horrible thing has been a heavy band of pain/nausea that settles over my eyes, wasn't getting any respite at all from it, so couldn't read or stand anything like bright lights (had tv on low but couldn't actually watch it) - now getting a few hours off per dose of paracetamol, so taking the chance to update and catch up.

  20. Please be careful MCW! My doctor just ordered a chest x-ray and said I have pneumonia. I know you have anti-virals, but if you are feeling better are you supposed to be seen by your GP? Prayers that some good rest and no lights restore you to full health quickly! My prayers are with you.

Posted 4 months ago by SoxsMom #

  21. Hi SM :o) Nope, over here once you've go the anti virals you're assumed to be heading in the right direction unless you go back and tell them otherwise. I'm not taking any risks, am being sensible and staying off work tomorrow. I know if I don't I could easily go backwards, and there's no way I'm reliving this week again!

Posted 4 months ago by MadcatwomanintheUK #

  22. Then sweet dreams to you and total darkness--heal well my friend!

Posted 4 months ago by SoxsMom #

  23. Poor MCW!! You obviously need a nurse! If you can arrange for the Queen to send her private jet, I can be there by morning!

Posted 4 months ago by WillowandWindismom #

  24. I think that is the best idea yet!! I vote send the plane for her MCW!!!

Posted 4 months ago by SoxsMom #

  25. MCW- glad you are doing a bit better - definitely stay home and in bed, you can relapse very easily with the flu! And if the headache does not clear soon, you may want to go in for followup... In some people the flu can cause an encephalitis...but the antivirals should keep that from happening! SM is right, tho', watch out for a secondary bacterial pneumonia! Take care, and hugs to you and Mr MCW and all the kits!

  27. feel better soon MCW. Hug some kitties, its just what the doctor ordered

  28. {{{MCW}}} Boo on these evil bugs. I assume I don't even have to ask if you're taking all your meds like a good girl? Please, please take care of yourself.

Posted 4 months ago by Kilroy #

  29. Take care MCW. Swine flu is awful so don't treat it like it's a cold or man flu you have to take it seriously, stay in bed, lots of fluids, take your anti-virals (although some doctors say they're useless) and eat soft foods when you feel like it. Take parecetamol every 4 hours and try to sleep as much as you can. You must stay off work for at least a week because you're infectious for that long. Now be good.

    No-one said the liquids/fluids couldn't include alcohol.............

    Posted 4 months ago by Pollys_Mum_in_UK_2605 #

  30. Oh NO! I just saw this! I'm so sorry you are so sick, MCW. Please do take everyone's advice and stay in bed, get lots of rest, and take your meds - including all the wonderful home remedies the rest have been recommending!

    Get better soon!
