  1. Good morning, all. As I intend to get some pumpkins within the next few days, I figure I better put these fruits to use. This morning I will be serving up most things pumpkin: pumpkin bread, pumpkin muffins, pumpkin waffles with pumpkin puree, oatmeal with cinnamon and steamed pumpkin chunks, sausage with shredded pumpkin inside, eggs (sorry, no pumpkin in the eggs; that's just a little out there), bacon, fruit juices (but not pumpkin; pumpkin doesn't juice well), pumpkin spice coffee, pumpkin spice tea, and bagels with pumpkin-swirled cream cheese. I intentionally left some things without pumpkin so you would not be overloaded with pumpkin.

  2. Good morning Vicki! Thanks for opening the cafe. I assume PUMPKIN color kitties are doing the serving and purring duties? :-)

I'll take some pumpkin coffee to go with my bacon and eggs!

  3. Oh, some warm pumpkin bread with my morning chai! We are having a warm spell of weather, but we know that temps will drop soon. Hope everyone is feeling better today. Snuggle with the nearest kitten or cat available.

  4. Oh, I like LadyKat's order: snuggle with the nearest kitten or cat (lol). Will do! (salutes)

  5. HI all! I will have a pumpkin colored kitten to snuggle and some pumpkin bread! YUM! Head still hurts but otherwise am ok. Back to the grind today.

  6. Awww, the agency kitties working the food have pumpkin aprins on, how cute!
I would like a piece of pumpkin bread with some cream cheese on it and some hot apple cider. Oh, and an orangy kitty to snuggle with for a while.
It's a dark and dreary day here - hopefully will clear up later on this evening.

  7. Morning all, warm again here today, heading out to w**k.....bought a pumpkin yesturday for the office, and my brilliant administrative assistant quickly carved the company logo in it!.... looks amazing!.....

... have a great day everyone... be productive... stay safe....

  8. We have a pumpkin carving contest here at the library every year. One year, a department fashioned a medieval cathedral, complete with 'stained glass window' out of a big old pumpkin. Big fun. Libraries are places to play too :-)

  9. Morning, all. Gray, rainy day here. Hubby is sad about his sister, who's been diagnosed with dementia, and about his tennis buddy who died of heart failure on Sunday. I wish I knew how to help him, but I don't.

I could use a little orange purr machine to snuggle; mine is currently curled up in his cardboard box, sound asleep.

  10. Morning all..up all night with Abbie..very tired...they were up early too..I need to shower but now have to wait till nap time. agh!
Pumpkin carving is an art..heck, we just did a normal face on the pumpkin and that was hard. People are so talented.
Rainy and chilly here today too. Fits my mood. lol
Kilroy, just be there for him. I know you want to help but he has to deal with everything and all you can do is let him know you are here if he needs to talk, vent, cry, yell. It's so hard to watch a loved one deal with all this. ((Kilroy and hubby))

  11. When we went to Cedar Key a few weeks ago, we were at a festival and they sold pumpkin fudge! It is yummy, but oh so rich. {{Kilroy and Hubby}}

  12. Pumpkin fudge? That sounds interesting SOM. AV, how nice of your admin asst. I kept meaning to bring something halloweeny in for my office, but didn't get to it. I still may bring something fall-like to cheer up the place.

  13. Wacky Wednesday morning from M'waukee with sunshine & 50's today! Sounds like the week is progressing in a positive direction for all...hope it continues!
I'll try a pumpkin muffin with a large pumpkin spiced coffee/yum! Smoochies to the little pumpkin/etc. patched calico on the way out!

  14. Good morning, I went to bed last night with a winter storm watch for Colorado - we are expecting snow til Thursday with an accumulation of 8 to 14 inches when it is all said and done, and have gotten about 3-4 so far. It does mess with what work Richard has, because it is exterior work. I'll be in and out today, so I'll talk to ya'll later.

  15. Good morning, Everyone! I'm off on errands but had to peek in to see what everyone is up to today. It's sunny here but a bit on the chilly side.

Kilroy, it's a lot for Mr. Kilroy to be absorbing right now and I can imagine how sad he must be feeling. Maybe it would be a good idea to go somewhere this evening and just get out of the house where he probably has more time to sit and ponder. A change of scenery and change of routine might help. Plus, lots of hugs.

  16. I've heard that Denver is going to get hit hard with winter snow! I hope the snow holds off quite a while here in the Midwest...that "s" word causes a lot of other "s" words (if you know what I mean).
If there are pumpkin bars on the buffet covered with cream cheese frosting, pass one this way!
Kilroy, so sorry about your husband's sad news. As CM said, just being there for him will give him comfort when he's ready to talk.

  17. Thanks everybody, for the hugs and good advice. Unfortunately, Mr. K is kind of shutting me out at this point; he was on the phone for a long time last night with his niece-in-law (Rosemary's daughter-in-law), who apparently has power of attorney to handle things, but he wouldn't tell me what they talked about, and when I asked if there was anything I could find more info about for him he basically bit my head off.

Tomorrow is Rich's funeral; unfortunately I have to work or I would go with him. I just feel helpless and sad.

  18. I meant to finish the post above a little sooner, but we just had an emergency at the office. Our receptionist suddenly had trouble speaking and seemed a bit "out of it". So we called 911 and had them check her over. She was beginning to get a little better, but because she has a heart irregularity, they took her to the hospital. We called her daughters and they were going to meet her there. I'm her back-up, so I had to get all my stuff together and come up front to the receptionist desk to answer the phones. It will be a long day while we wait to hear how she is and what happened.

  19. Kilroy, he's just very upset right now over two events happening that he can't control. He will share when he can cope with it all. Just hang in there and be there when he needs you.

Posted 3 weeks ago by LadyKat of IA #

  20. Everyone handles grief differently. Society has a tendency to teach men to not show their emotions, even with their loved ones. Stinks. Hang in there, Kilroy, he may turn to you when you least expect it. Be there and available as a listener if/when he looks like he's ready.

  21. Ladykat...TLC for your receptionist. A similar incident happened at my last place of employment. All you can do is wait for better news.

Posted 3 weeks ago by jeankit #

  22. We just got a phone call from one of the receptionist's daughters. She had a stroke, but the doctor got some medicine into her right away and thought that it would help her a lot since everything was done so quickly in getting her medical attention. She is a little more alert, but still having a little difficulty with memory. We won't know anymore for awhile, but one of the daughters may stop by later this afternoon when they come to pick up her car.

  23. LK: Aww, Special+Prayers for your Recepitonist & family.

Posted 3 weeks ago by jeankit #

  24. Good job getting help fast for your co-worker, LK. Sounds like people were on the ball.

Posted 3 weeks ago by Kilroy #

  25. Hey all, hope everyone is having a good afternoon. It is gloomy and rainy still in the midwest. I could use a pumpkin muffin and a latte! LK, good work on getting your receptionist help so quickly. You have made a huge difference in her recovery. Best of luck for her!

  26. Morning/afternoon all, you're buying pumpkins and carving them and I'm just planting mine here.

  27. Hi all! MS, how fun you grow your own pumpkins. Always wanted to do that. LK, smart move getting the receptionist to the ER, perfect example of how modern medicine can help people when we are all on the ball. I am sure they gave her TPA, which is a strong clot busting drug. Its amazing how well it works. Hang in there Kilroy, it has been a tough week, oh heck, year.

  28. Hi MC! {{{MC}}} How are you doing today?

We used to grow pumpkins in our huge, ginormous vegetable garden in Maine, and every year my parents let me and my sister and some of our friends each label a pumpkin with our names (you carve the name into the pumpkin when it's small and the carving scars over, it's pretty cool).

Posted 3 weeks ago by Kilroy #

  29. Hi MC, I'm only putting in about four plants, 2 of Buttercup squash and 2 Kamo kamo a local heirloom squash of NZ. Any more than that and I wouldn't be able to find the yard or Shadz. I'm off grocery shopping with Mum now, see you later on probably on the Night Shift.

  30. Update on receptionist: She is doing well and is mostly coherent now. She's telling her daughters that she wants to come back to work, but, of course, that won't happen for a while yet. She will be watched through the night to see how she does before the doctors make any decisions about care and we hope to know more tomorrow morning.
Hope everyone has a good evening!
