I have recently started talking online with a divorced Dad who has two little boys. Our coversations are great and we seem to have a lot in common so far. We have talked on the phone once so far and it ended up being almost 2 hours. Was great. He would like to meet for coffee at a local coffee shop. How long should I wait before that happens? I have been out of the dating scene for a way long time and i am just unsure about that. Any advice from my loving family?

Meeting someone new? Advice

Agreed, but as long as it's in a public place you should be safe. Mayve arrange for a friend to *accidentally* drop by and see you there, you could have a pre-arranged signal for cutting the meeting short if you were uncomfortable.

It's just coffee. Do take it slow and stay in public locations to meet. You don't know much about this person yet so consider him as a possible friend. I think it is very telling to see how a man treats his mother and whether or not he is supportive of a good relationship between his ex and their boys. I'd be very suspicious of someone who wanted to rush into a relationship or wouldn't be interested in having you meet members of his family. Keep your radar on and watch for red flags. Good luck. :)

I had an "online date meet" once. Met in a cafe near home and my two friends sat in the corner and watched for half an hour, i met them in to toilet to say i didn't think he was an axe murderer but we let the staff know what was going on etc!! we didn't have chemistry but ended up good friends and are still in touch 7 years on - so go for it but be safe honey!!
