  1. Today in 1917, the Balfour Declaration was issued by the British government, establishing a homeland for the Jewish people in the Middle East. This was the beginning of the foundation of what would become the state of Israel.

    Also today in 1783, George Washington delivered his farewell address to the Continental Army, disbanding it in favor of creating a more permanent standing army of the United States. He did so after the signing of the Treaty of Paris, ending the Revolutionary War.

  2. Wow Dee, Nov. 2, 1783 holds a historic moment for the USA. Daniel Boone/famous American Icon birthday is today and speaking of Paris...today also is Marie Antoinette's Birthday...Let them eat cake!
