We are keeping him!!!

(30 posts)
  1. Yeah!! We are keeping the Maine Coon kitty that was rejected by his family when I called them to tell them I found him.

He is so cool.... He is eating again and his tummy is ok. He sleeps with us on the bed and is so well behaved. Yeah !!
And he doesn't bother our little hamster Poppy, but we still keep them away from each other.

I am so happy and so is he. :)

But he still needs a name, I've been calling him Kitty but I want to give him a proper name, but can't find any I like.

  2. How about Second Chance (Chance for short), Lucky, ReDo, DoOver, Miracle?

  3. That's great news! Names are hard..what kind of name do you think you are looking for..a person's name?

  4. He'll tell you his name :) You are awesome for taking this sweet baby in. :D

  5. I am picky this time. The last kitties I fostered were named in no time.

Lets see, he is really big, long hair and bites sometimes when you touch him in the wrong places, so he is a bit rough, evilish I would say lol, but such an angel at the same time cause he just sits there most of the time with his innocent face. He loves water (drinking and looking at it), doesn't play much or at all.
He hardly ever meows and when he does is so funny cause he barely makes any noise, doesn't match his huge body.
He is a tabby Maine Coon, his original name was Dezy but I don't like it.

  6. The voice is typical of Maine Coons! I'm so happy for both of you! I really like CBMs suggestions, or maybe Fishy since he like water so much.

  7. Warm welcome to your new addition Mr. Maine Coon:?name/and the winner is...

  8. Elvis........

  9. You could name him after a big but gentle person. The maine coon that we had many years ago was named after one of our favorite basketball players. So how about Andre for Andre the Giant who was in the movie Princess Bride. Or his character in the movie Fezzik. Kareem, Kobe? Or after a favorite football player. Or Ben for Gentle Ben.

It's funny, because it has nothing to do with anything, but the name Charlie just popped into my mind.

  10. You could call him Ruffian. Or just wait a bit and his character will guide you to the proper name.

  11. Hi all, I am thinking to call him Link (like missing link). I may change my mind, last week he was going to be Sunny but don't like it no more, lol.
I like Ruffian and call him Ruffy or Ruf hehe...... I like it a lot hmmmmm.

Thank you all for your ideas and nice comments :)

  14. Maine Coons are an awesome breed - best of luck to you with your new buddy.

  15. I like Fezzik, but Ruffian is good, too.

  16. Maine Coons are very clever. You could call him Isaac, Newton, Edison, Hawking...

  17. ClaudesMommy, my sister's MaineCoon mix must have missed the brains part, he is the cutest dumbest cat I ever lived with! He does have that tiny voice and he likes to play in water. But he is always a step behind the other cats on picking up on things.

  18. she must have been taking a nap when the brains were passed out
I had a Maine Coon that I would play hide and seek with. She would hide and I would look for her, and while I was looking, she'd spring out of her hiding place and tap me on the back of the ankle.

  19. CM, that is soooo cute! Our Maine Coon was a criminal mastermind. He taught the siamese that if they worked together they could get the lid off of the food tin. He also figured out how to disable the childproof cabinet latches and how to work the ice dispenser on the fridge. He was 28 pounds of feline muscle and bone at his prime.

  20. Ruggles is half Maine Coon. Need I say more about brains? If I put a flashlight to his ear, his eyes glow. No obstructions up there at all.

Posted 2 weeks ago by Emma #

  21. Emma...I don't believe it!! Ruggles is so sauve and debonair I'm sure it's just a way of getting away things. Blackbeard is part Maine Coon as well and he rules the house!

  22. You guys are funny. I like Edi...son.
So mean trufflesmom and claudesmommy LOL. Emma that is hilarious, I am going to try that on my sister, I bet the same would happen lmao :p
This 'little' guy is smart too and very sneaky, he acts really slow but then he appears in front of you when you least expect it. Yesterday I got home went to the kitchen turned and there he was on top of the fridge lounging! it startled me as I didn't expect him to be there, sooo funny..... my baby.
I just adore him and I just met him.

  23. Maine Coons are awesome and I'm so happy you're keeping this one!! How about Rosco? It has a rough and tumble sort of sound to it. =D

  24. Lucky for both of you!

  25. I have two suggestions:

Gabriell (for the big arch-angle) Gabe for short

or Shrek - ( I just like the name, and he's a big loveable guy)

  26. We had a cat that would bite when he was in a bad mood, his name was Sharp. LOL

  27. Ruggles is the biggest, sweetest, goofiest baby in the world -- handsome, good-natured, and a total charmer. His innocent face makes everyone think he is silly.

The lad is clever enough to mask his genius behind incredible good looks and beautiful manners.

Maybe Ruggles is a LOT smarter than I thought . . . hmmmmmmmmm (and he is smart enough to make me very happy to live under one large and furry mahogany paw and one small and sleek sable paw!)

  28. Jiggs was dumb like a fox :) He always had that "huh?" look, but knew exactly what he was doing.

Posted 2 weeks ago by JoanfromNewJersey #

  29. Maine Coon's are sweeties! Jr is definitely not the brightest bulb in the box but he is very loving. Especially to the other cats - he could never be an only cat. If anyone is sick or upset it upsets him terribly. But the Huh? or OMG looks which are his most frequent expressions are just so true and adorable.

  30. They are big, darling round-eyed babies.
