  1. Okay I am a nervous wreck--a bunch of people crawling all over the school observing in the classrooms. You know it isn't a distraction at all for people to walk in and out of the room. It isn't like kids have a natural curiosity to see who is coming in, and they are NEVER distracted by anything!

SO I have lots of fountains on!! Martinis are the specialty--again. Might I reccommend the dry martini with an extra olive or two. Also the finger food is circulating! Try the ramaki it is to die for!

Pull up a chair and share your day---whether it is winding down or just beginning!

  2. i will take some virtual milk chocolate and a plate of strawberries please. thank you.

Posted 2 weeks ago by Cheri 12/22 #

  3. Is the martini fountain flowing with vodka martini or gin martini?

Posted 2 weeks ago by Vicki #

  4. I will take a double chocolate martini! Some mozzarella sticks with marinara and a soft fuzzy kitty to snuggle! What's going on at school SM?? Did I miss something??

    Posted 2 weeks ago by mollycat71 #

  5. Vicki we have both--I prefer gin myself.

MC we have hired a company to make us better--at the price of millions and I am not exaggerating. I have no problem with them--they are great and really making us work to be our best. What I have a problem with is that we are not able to fund programs and are cutting staff. Our class sizes are going to rise and we have a pay freeze. I have to work more days, perform more duties, and have a pay cut or be fired. I have to go back to college and get an advanced degree or be fired and they will not help us finacially. Our Governor just cut our budges again. It is a similiar situation around the country. Who will suffer--students and they can't afford educational cutting.

  6. OOH! Now I understand SM, that is really stressful!

    Posted 2 weeks ago by mollycat71 #

  7. I am upset with the thought that everyone that moved up a level last year have a $10,000 raise and I have to do the same thing just to keep my job and NO raise. I know that having the advanced degree also nets the school more federal funding. There is NO job in America that is safe in this economic climate. I keep hearing that everything is so much better and unemployment is lower. Couldn't tell that from anyone I know.

Posted 2 weeks ago by SoxsMom #

  8. I will second that one SM! We have the highest unemployment rate in Illinois and it shows! Its sad!

    Posted 2 weeks ago by mollycat71 #

  9. Michigan is worse. We are spiralling downward--this is frightening to everyone. Since we are reading depression era stories, my kids this year are relating much more than any class I have ever had.

Posted 2 weeks ago by SoxsMom #

  10. I can only imagine. It was hard for me in the early 80s to relate like today's generation. I think this might be the first generation that is NOT going to better off than their parents if things don't straighten up. :(

  11. Well I am off to slumberland! I hope that tomorrow will go well. Have to say I am nervous and will have a hard time sleeping.

Good Night and Peace to All!

  12. Hi all! SM - I will get that stuff in the post tomorrow. I'll take a LARGE martini please - don't care if its gin, vodka or both. Dirty or clean. Some serious s#%t is going down at my workplace and I'm a bit afraid I may not have a job. My manager was made redundant today. I think I might know the reasons behind it and it is more performance based than revenue based. I'm hoping the big boss still regards me as a 'safe pair of hands'. I tend to be the one that actually gets projects done so I hope I am safe. Scary times though.

  13. good night and good thoughts to all !!!

  14. Holey moley, KK, that is really scarey. Wasn't your manager the one you were having to show how to do things? I hope you get reassurance really quickly.

Hi, MC, night-night and sweet dreams SM and Cheri!

  15. Oh dear - I am in trouble with Mr. WWM ..... again. We were watching DWTS and then Castle came on, which he really likes. Only I dozed off. It's not that I don't like it, but I just got so comfy and I dozed off. He ended up shaking me and asking "What did they just do?". I had to resort to making up stuff. Not a good option, as I think he has me figured out. Uh-oh......

Nite, Everyone. I really am off to bed, since I've already been asleep for an hour.

  16. Evening all. What a day I've had. Gardening this morning then this afternoon Mr MS and I got all dressed up and joined friends at our club for the Melbourne Cup, a horse race in Australia that both countries stop for. I was running a sweepstake at home for the family and the future SIL won and KK got second place. Even J-man in California joined in on the sweepstake long distance. I won $16 at the club betting on the race, had lots of wonderful food and a great time with our friends cheering on the horses. Now I'm tired, it's hard work having fun.
WWM, were you inspecting your eyelids from the inside?

    Posted 2 weeks ago by Moonshadow_NZ #

  17. Evening, MS, well, that will have cheered KK up a little, I hope, and helped persuade SIL (if he needed any persuasion) that yours was the family to join for a fun time! I'm glad you won $16, who did you bet on? I'd never even heard of the horse that won.

I am so chuffed. I am still stripping wood but I oiled the very top of the mantelpiece, just so I could see how it looked and to help inspire me to keep going. It looks totally beautiful! I now can't wait till the whole room is finished -- and then the hallway, and... squeeeeeeeeeee.

Also, a beautiful red poppy with frilly white edges came out in my garden. I love poppies and this one is so pretty. And TALL!

Posted 2 weeks ago by jcat #

  18. Jcat, the horse was called Mourilyan and someone gave us a tip on it so we all had a bet on it. Just as well because none of the other horses we had picked came anywhere.
I bet your mantlepiece looks gorgeous, I bet it's a lovely warm glowing look too. Wow, the whole room! You'll be a champion stripper by the time you've finished it.(I was going to say a professional stripper but that sounded a bit dodgy!) LOL
Ohhhhhhhh, that poppy sounds lovely. Is it an oriental poppy?

    Posted 2 weeks ago by Moonshadow_NZ #

  19. Evening MS, sounds like a fun day.

WWM, did Mr. WWM not know what was going on with the show he likes?

Posted 2 weeks ago by AZDEBRA 5/27 & crew #

  20. I wondered about that too. Was Mr WWM taking a wee nap too or was he not watching the show.

    Posted 2 weeks ago by Moonshadow_NZ #

  21. Yes, MS, it is an Oriental poppy, but it is behind my humungous hedge so -- hopefully - won't be stolen for nefarious purposes. They are just so beautiful and come in such gorgeous colours...

Meh! Champion stripper, professional stripper, I'll tell you what, I'll do it for my little house (once) but I'd never do it for anybody else. It is a horrible, fume-laden job. If I won Lotto, I'd have the professional strippers round tomorrow. There's a bunch of them -- craftsmen-type blokes -- up in Masterton but they're awfully expensive... They come round to your house and do it on-site. (Everything I say sounds dodgy now, lol...)

    Hi Deb!

Oh, Mr WWM, fancy giving your wife a pop quiz on watching telly...!

MS, Trademe is a great place to get poppy seeds and so is the WildflowerWorld website...

  22. Good article on 9-1-1 calls, disturbing to me because I have done it for so long.

    http://www.rd.com/your-america-inspiring-people-and-stories/911-calls-gone-tragically-wrong/article166229.html

Listen to the calls also, link should be highlighted in blue

    Evening jcat :)

  23. I have one oriental poppy in the garden, I thought I had lost them all to rot during the winter but up it popped among the sweetpeas. Mum's neighbour had a beautiful display of them until someone stole the whole lot one night. Boy was she angry.
Chuckling about your craftsman blokes quip, it did sound dodgy but funny too. We once stripped paint off a mantlepiece in one of the farm cottages we lived in, what a stinky eye watering job it was. Worth the effort and discomfort in the end.

    Posted 2 weeks ago by Moonshadow_NZ #

  24. Deb, there have been several tragic incidents here with emergency calls. They seem to be centralised now so operators are unfamiliar with the city/town/area/local names from where the person is calling, and send the fire engines/police etc to the wrong streets or the wrong cities or the wrong highways. In rural areas (like the Wairarapa) it can take over an hour for emergency services to get to tiny rural places, even if they have the right address.

Posted 2 weeks ago by jcat #

  25. Gosh, MS, yes, I'd never plant them where people could see them passing by. And I don't think I'd plant them in a city at all...

That's it, once the job is actually done, it will be soooo worth it! You and Deb will have to suffer a lot of pix, I'm afraid... And I saw the most beautiful garden on Monday... am possibly stealing a lot of ideas...

Posted 2 weeks ago by jcat #

  26. Time for me to go and head to bed. Shadz has all of Airy's bed tonight as Airy has stayed with friends in the city she works in. They were having a Melbourne Cup evening.
Looking forward to the pictures Jcat, it's a good cause and I'll suffer for it! :-)
Ohhhhhhhhh garden ideas. Always like those. It's funny, Mr MS seems to cringe when I say I have a new idea, can't think why he does that.
Goodnight Jcat and Deb, chinscritches to Libbt & Jasper and The Crew.

    Posted 2 weeks ago by Moonshadow_NZ #

  27. jcat, oh go ahead and make me 'suffer' the pix.....love flowers!
There are such horror stories about some of the 9-1-1 centers, you never hear enough about the good ones.

Ok my dau called tonight, guess Ms. Becca is finally getting a tooth! Walking is next on the list :)

Posted 2 weeks ago by AZDEBRA 5/27 & crew #

  28. Woohoo, a tooth, let us know when it's through and we'll celebrate at the fountain. The walking stage, when everything is in reach! They don't know what's going to hit them.

    Posted 2 weeks ago by Moonshadow_NZ #

  29. Nighty-night, MS, I'm just going to have another coffee then I'm off too. Sweet dreams, Shadz might decide to cuddle up next to you if Airy's not there... Scritch Shadz for me too.

BRB -- off to get another coffee, yum, yum...

Posted 2 weeks ago by jcat #

  30. Whoo-hoo, a tooth! Does this mean sleepless nights for poor daughter, Deb?
