The Lord of the Rings trilogy in the extended director's cut edition.
Star Trek even the 2009 reboot. Star Wars and The Indiana Jones films. Independence Day and Men in Black 1&2.
George Pal's Forbidden Planet and War of the Worlds. You can have the remake with Tom Cruise for kindling but it would not be worth burning.
Sunset with James Garner, Bruce Willis and Malcolm McDowell.
Time after Time and the first two Superman files with Christopher Reeve. I am still on the fence about the new guy.
I also like Cat People the original 1942 with Simone Simon and the 1982 with Natassha Kinski and Malcolm McDowell with the great Bowie theme song.
Dirty Dancing, Ghost and To Wong Fu.... with Patrick Swayze.
Shall We Dance...the original Japanese and the American remake.
Take the Lead with Antonio Banderas.
Thomasina for a kitty tear-jerker. The AristocatsLong list... I need to win the lottery so I can have more free time....

All the Working Title films : Four Weddings & a Funeral, Love Actually, Bridget Jones (both of them), then there's Sliding Doors, one of my all time favourite films. Oh and Kinky Boots! I'm a sucker for a good Brit comedy :o)

I have to agree on A Christmas story, such a classic. Any of the Fast and Furious movies, Tomb Raider movies, Taxi(the remake version with QLatifah),pretty much anything with Angelina Jolie or Queen Latifah,Paul Blart Mall Cop, Nepolian Dynamite, RENT, Nemo, Babe, Little Mermaid, Happy Feet, Trains Planes & Automobiles, Great Outdoors, Bill Cosby Himself, Drumline, You got Served, Mulan Rouge, Chicago, Forest Gump, Shawshank Redemption, Green Mile, Inverview with a Vampire, I am Legend, But I'm a Cheerleader... I could keep going, I love movies :)

I was in a meeting the other day and someone said the word 'fragile'. Half of us started giggling because we were thinking of 'A Christmas Story'. :)

I am going to take a moment to add
Labyrinth with David Bowie as the Goblin King... I think this should be required for all young women and girls as an allegory of living in an abusive relationship and getting out of it.
The ending where Bowie is delivering his "I did all these horrible things to you because you wanted me to" speech and her answer...
"You have no power over me!"

Casino, GoodFellas, CopLand, Unbreakable, Harold and Maude, Harry and Tonto, ScarFace, Sugar Hill, Mobsters, The Wedding Singer, Ride the Wild Wind, The Lost Weekend, All About Eve, Mildred Pierce, An Imitation of Life, Raisin in the Sun. I know there are more, but I've recently watched the movies I just mentioned - sometimes more than once at the same sitting - lol.

OMG...how could I make a mistake on the title. And none of you caught it? Julie got the title right...Somewhere in Time w/Cristopher Reeves. Shame on me after the zillions of times I've watched it,you'd think I'd get the title right. :(
And how could I forget Milo & Otis (thank you KyKat). The most loving animal/people interaction movie I've ever watched & never miss when it's on the tube.

Don't beat yourself up too much Feral...I repeated the error and I read Richard Matheson's stories.

The Flamingo Kid. We must watch that every year around July 4th and sometimes again around Labor Day - great summer-type flick. Stars a young Matt Dillon.
Raising Arizona. Stars Nicholas Cage & Holly Hunter
Home for the Holidays. Holly Hunter
Animal House. (double-secret probation!)
1941. John Belushi, Dan Ackroyd, Ned Beaty, Warren Oats, just to name a few. I highly recommend this very funny movie set in WWII. Hysterical Californians prepare for a Japanese invasion in the days after Pearl Harbor.
How did I forget the classic Disney movies?? Dumbo was my favorite as a kid. (a short clip of that movie was in '1941')
Field of Dreams. Speaking of Kevin Costner...
Silverado. Kevin Kline, Danny Glover, Rosanna ArquettePosted 2 years ago by JoanfromNewJersey #

'Shawshank Redemption' is one of the best movies I've ever seen. I remember watching that one day along with 'Primal Fear' (Richard Gere and Edward Norton). If you haven't seen Primal Fear--it's excellent!

Joan, my dad turned me on to Silverado, and I left it off my list. If it's on I always watch it, and actually have the video tape and the DVD. Great movie with a quietly sinister Brian Denehy.

HM, I remember "Imitation of Life"; I've seen it a number of times but not in many years. I'm with Dee and Sandra: Moonstruck and Dirty Dancing. Moonstruck because I'm a NY Italian bookkeeper who wound up with my BF's brother, it's the story of my life!

I forgot Somewhere in Time, The Fog (the 1980 version; yes, that movie scares the $**t out of me, but that's the only horror movie that does that to me. Other 'horror' films either make me laugh or gross me out), The Sweetest Thing (especially the scene in which Selma Blair's character had the San Francisco fire department get her out of a, um, 'delicate' position involving body piercings and her boyfriend); To Wong Foo, Thanks for Everything, Julie Newmar; the Batman series (I think Michael Keaton was the best Batman, as he seemed to bring a dark energy to the role, which was probably the intent), Scrooged, and there are probably a few others in the recesses of my mind I can't think of right now.
-
Vicki, I love Scrooged!!! It's surprises me every time somebody mentions it because every body I mention it to has never seen it.
I forgot Moonstruck, too. That's awesome. Oh, and Overboard, I always watch that one too.
