Just heard from the vet (I'm home today). Her blood work looked pretty good, only one level was elevated (BUN) and she really needs a urine sample to test for further info. She thinks we have caught the kidney disease early. So wish me luck in getting that urine sample and for Jetta's prognosis a prayer. Thanks!

That is certainly cautiously optomistic news Lainey! Oooh, good luck getting that urine sample. I never did get one from Jiggs; I think they got a trickle at the vet's office.

if she won't go without litter, try using the stones from aquariums....believe someone suggested that a few months ago, you can get a clean catch plus wash the stones clean and reuse them.

Yay! That was my fish tank gravel suggestion, worked wonders when I had to regularly test Titch's urine. And when it's been used, just rinse through with sterilising fluid and leave it to dry and it can be used again.
So pleased about the good news for Jetta Lainey :o)

I'm remaining cautiously optimistic with you Lainey...this is very positive news. Keeping Jetta in my prayers and best of luck getting that urine sample. If the empty litterbox doesn't work as per Susie's suggestion...maybe laying saran wrap down on top of the litter would fool her long enough to squat briefly. {{Jetta}} {{Lainey}}

We used to use both the Saran wrap trick, then the fish stones--had more success with the stones. Now my vet gets the urine out of her, much easier.

Hi everyone. Was home with a horrid migraine today and only opened my eyes long enough to send the post. Up for a few and heading back but wanted to let y'all know the vet gave me these black crystals to put in a clean litter box to catch her urine. So going to go set that up now and give her more water and head back to bed. Thanks for the positive feedback! I know there is still life left in my girl! I'm just sad that she is losing so much weight, but she is stil STRONG! Little but strong. Till tomorrow.

Prayers that your head will recover quickly--that is wicked pain.
I took Basil in to have a catheter to get the urine--he wasn't cooperative otherwise. Teaser gets infections because of her diet. She has a stomach issue and can only hold down one brand of food and refuses can most of the time. Can of course would help, but she will do the refuse to eat thing. I have found that lysine, just like what I gave Basil for FeLK. works for her too. I am always worried that she will develop an all out kidney problem. So far she is doing well and holding her own at 7.2pounds.

Oh Lainey, I just saw this! Prayers for your Jetta! You have had enough on your plate lately. I understand the headache thing all too well. Rest, don't worry and leave it all in the prayers of your TDK family and the hands of God

Hey friends! I'm home for a minute... came to collect Jetta's "speciman" or take her to the vet for them to collect... good news, she went in the box of pellets! I had to leave her in the bathroom this morning when I went to work but she did it. now she is hiding from me :(
Will let you all know when I hear from the vet, hopefully tonight.
My migraine is about 70 percent better. had to come to work. I feel bad complaining knowing how bad our Amy suffers...
Back to w**k.
