  1. Today is the big day!! I get to finally see the neurosurgeon. My appointment is at 945am CST. Please do not panic or call out the police if I don't post for a while after that. I have a really super busy day and may not be able to post til this afternoon. I have meetings with the bosses as soon as I get back. I also don't know if they are gonna run anymore tests etc on me. So, here goes nothing!

  11. Well, the news is not good. Looks like I am the miracle kid no more. I have to have another surgery. He asked me if tomorrow would work, um no. He said this is very important and we need to get it done soon. Looks like the 18th of November for the time being. They are going to put a drain in my brain and clean up the fluid that has "escaped". He is afraid another leak may not turn out as well as this one.

  16. *Snake hops through wormhole*

    I'm sending my orangie Snake to you -- he's sweet and loves to cuddle (and will behave around the other cats). I'll keep you in my thoughts and prayers. I'm sorry the news was not as good as we hoped.

  17. ((Amy))
    You are strong and you will get through this. It does suck that you have to have another surgery, but if it keeps you alive, it must be done. If there is ANYTHING we can do, let us know. Please let us know if FF will help care for you and the girls. You are always in my thoughts and prayers. Fred, Cricket send sandpaper kisses and headbonks. Maddie and Abbie send hugs and kisses to their Auntie Amy.

  18. You are still the miracle kid. You should have had the first surgery years ago and didn't, yet you managed to be a productive responsible person even though you were in pain. You came through the first surgery beautifully, even though the hospital sent you home alone. The leak tried to bring you down, but failed. And now you have a doctor who really pays attention to you.

    This is a set back, but you can and will persevere. We are all rooting for you.

  19. CBM says what I would have, beautifully :-)

    You knew this might be one of the options, MC, but not the one you wanted to really hear. But this is GOOD, the neurosurgeon is taking this and you seriously and there's pretty quick action to get it resolved. I'll send you Hermes through the King-Sized Wormhole(tm). His smooshy face will make you laugh.

  20. Oh, Amy, I'm soooo sorry! On the positive side, though, I'd love for you to FINALLY be pain free.

    Is this the same surgery that he mentioned before or is it different (less invasive?). You ARE the miracle kid and you need to keep remembering that! Plus, (I must say!)--November 18th happens to be (according to me, anyway) a very lucky day for you to have your surgery! *it's my BDay* If there's anything we can do for you, please ask because you know we're here for you. {{{hugs}}}

  21. Ah, bummer. I'm sorry, I know that's not the news you wanted to hear. But like wot they ^ all say, you WILL get through this. You're one of the strongest people with the best, most positive attitude I know. {{{hugs}}} galore, and emergency Wipas will be in the post Saturday xx

  22. Amy...I'm sorry for the lousy news. It's a relief tho that your neuro wants to get right to it...it means he really is concerned & cares about your welfare. You know my Love & Prayers are being sent to you as I type this. And If you like...I'll send my 'Miracle Boy Hopper' thru the worm hole. Who would think he'd become the biggest cuddlebug of all the 8 I have inside?

  24. God bless, Amy, and I'm hoping this will take care of all your problems. You've had enough trouble for ten people--and you will always be our "Miracle Kid"! Max and Cali send hugs and purrs, and me,too!

  25. MC, I know it wasn't the kind of news you wanted to hear, but it's better to have accurate information. Hang in there, you'll get through this with flying colors; if anyone can beat this sort of thing, it's you!! Best wishes and much purring to you, from Misty, Dom, Even, George, Violet, and Sweet Pea...

  26. MC, at least you finally know what you are dealing with and what must be done. I know that it doesn't seem fair, and it's certainly not what you had hoped to hear. I send my prayers that this surgery will take care of the problem and you won't have to face this again.

    Now, on a practical side, if I may. We were all worried beyond belief the last time because we knew that you were at home, alone, and not well enough to really tend to your needs. Please don't let them send you home too early, but most of all please make some arrangements that someone will be there at home with you. Could your mom or sister stay with you? It's just too dangerous after this type of surgery for you to be alone. And, could we have some back-up phone numbers?

    Posted 2 weeks ago by WillowandWindismom #

  27. {{{{{Amy}}}}} You will always be our miracle kid, just as CBM and everybody has said. You are in my thoughts all the time, not just because I'm worried as h*** about you but because your positive attitude and strength just blow me away. I wish we could all be with you in person but we are there with you in our hearts. More {{{HUGS}}}

  28. MC, I figured repeat surgery was a given as soon as you announced your problem. Two weeks is a long time under the circumstances. What preventatives are they keeping you on until surgery?

    You keep a close watch on yourself. We don't want any more detours.

    Posted 2 weeks ago by ailuromaniac #

  29. take care of yourself Amy. We dont want you going septic from the CSF leak area. I will shove Harry and Fm through the worm hole to give you extra cuddles.
    Lots of Love

  30. First, I think they are gonna keep me sedated while the drain is in so there won't be much news from my end. Secondly, I now have FF!!! He will be looking after me so that is good. Thirdly, he wanted to do the surgery tomorrow but it is at another hospital that is NOT in my PPO. So we ran the risk of them not paying or only paying 50%. The next time an operating room was available at the hospital I can go to is the 18th. IF something happens before then, he will go in IMMEDIATELY. He is sending a note on to the hospital in their computer if I show up in the ER to page him and prep the OR for a STAT surgery. He said he is not sure I will last til the 18th. I looked over the scans and boy is there a massive blob of fluid in there and it has cause a big shift of my brain. I have seen PIX of brains like this but it sure is different when its my own brain. And yes the surgery is more complex than I led on above but I couldn't go into detail as my boss walked in while I was posting. They are gonna "vacuum" out the fluid, look around for a tear in the linings of my brain, IF they find it they will fix it. If not then they will use a gel like glue and he will smear it over the entire area where the original operation site was. That way all areas are covered. Next a diversion shunt will be placed in my brain, down thru my spine and come out at the level of my tailbone into a catheter bag. During that time I was be heavily sedated so as not to move the tube. They will constantly measure CSF output and the pressures in my brain. Depending on those readings they will pull the shunt out. I will get stapled and sewn up. I will then go home with nurse FF. There is a lot to do before the surgery in so far as testing and prep. Oh I just wanna cry my eyeballs out!
