may have found a solution!

  1. So I have a 5 week old kitten whose mom abandoned her (she may have died on the road because the kittens were near a main road). As all kittens are, she is very needy but I was thinking about how at night she really doesn't want to sleep alone. After the past 4 sleepless nights, this morning I found what I think may do the trick, at least for a while. I stuffed a sock that she's been sleeping on that smells like my boyfriend and stuffed it with a pillow case I always use and Ryan's underwear (she slept in them the first few days she was here sometimes).

Right now she's in her bed snuggled up against this sock mommy. Any experience with faux mommas? Any thing that's worked before? We really don't want her to get into the habit of sleeping on the bed as we are both allergic to cats (that doesn't stop us from having her though she's the best!)

So far so good, she is bumped up against the "mommy" and snoozing after a long morning of play, since she got her mommy up at 6:30am and woke her up 3 times in the night wondering "Why aren't we playing? you guys are boring!" lol Just let me know what you guys think/do! :]

  4. A very good idea. I have a teddy bear that I keep with all my foster babies. Once I'm sure they dont have any diseases, I put it in with them, and it's comforting for them to have another 'cat' in the cage with them. I never wash the bear, so it's like a story book with messages on from all the previous babies who slept with it :)

  5. Success! It DOES work. She went from waking us up about 4-5 times a night to not waking us up at all (not even in the morning!!) So definitely if you have a kitty that is too young to be away from her mom (for sad circumstances of course :[ ) then just stuff a sock full of stuff that smells like you and put it in her favorite snoozin spot. :]
