  5. Gah!!!! Can you believe this is the first chance I've had to check in? I'll give you an example, I had to go in to my desk draw for something at about 3 this afternoon, and was mind boggled to see my lunch box in there, untouched! I started munching away in between bouts of work...and finally finished my lunch at 4.15!!! Crazy is not the word...

Any how, Harry. Has perked up quite a bit, is fighting me tooth and nail on tablet taking, but is up and about a little more and showing more interest in things, so I think that means the meds are doing their trick and stabilising him.

I've been monitoring his at rest breathing, and he's averaging 32-36 breaths per minute. I have no idea if that's good or bad, but am due to report to the vet with him on Thursday evening - will update during Friday if not before.

    Love you all!!!

  6. Goodness! I didn't know poor Harry was in such shape! It sounds like you're doing all the right things for this baby, and it's wonderful that he's in such a loving home with such good kitty parents.

Lots of hugs to you and Chris. I send scritches and gentle hugs to Harry, and Tansey and Hermes send headbonks and purrs.

  8. MCW, I didn't see this thread till just now! I'm very glad Harry seems to be improving and will pray that his recovery continues.

  9. Well at least he is fighting the tablet. Seems that he is acting normal--it is scary when they don't fight the medicines. I am praying for good news this week!

  10. Oh MCW! I'm so sorry I didn't see this until now :( Poor, sweet Harry, and poor you and Chris. I wish I could do more than send hugs and white light, but consider them sent by the bushelful.

  11. MCW, have you tried to crush his tablets and mixing it with his food? Thats the only way I can get Max to take his without a fight.

  12. Prayers for you and Harry. Stay well, little man.

  13. You certainly have your hands full, MCW! Prayers are being said for you and young master Harry. I hope he has a long, full life with you and Chris! :)

  14. You're right SM, it's certainly better than when he was just listless in my arms and letting me do anything to him.

Harry's not that food orientated Deb (doesn't like any treats - weird!), and rarely finishes his food - so I'd never be sure he'd had all the meds, or that the others weren't getting any traces.

    And thanks to everyone again!

  15. glad he is a little better MCW! that must be a relief. xxxxxxxxxxxxxx

  16. I'm glad to hear that he is perking up. MCW, you might want to ask the vet if any of the meds are available in transdermal gel form. That was a life-saver for Jerrie (aka The World's Worst Pill-Taker). The gel is rubbed on the inside of the ear, and is absorbed into the skin. Not all meds are available in that form but it is worth checking.

  17. Yay Harry! NNGM, I think my girls are tied with Jerri for pill taking, they HATE it. I would rather give them a shot.

  18. *zooms in and out of TDK* - having a HORRENDOUS couple of days at work, I bloody HATE working for a family company sometimes!!!

    Quick update :

    1) - Harry - vet pleased with how he was getting on when we took him for his check up last night, the current meds are to be continued while we're away (cat sitter is ex vets nurse, so no worries there) and she'll see him again when we're back to sort out some beta blockets for him. His appetite's really perked up and he's generally more lively. Thanks to NNGM for the gel idea, I'll check that one out when we know what he's going to be on long term. Had never heard of that - isn't it amazing what they can do nowadays?!!

    2) - my laptop (refrerred to on recent cafe thread) is dead, it is no more, it is an ex laptop (one for the Monty Python fans out there!!). I can probably get a good deal on a trade in, Chris and I will be looking into that when we get back, so TDK access before & after holiday will be a little sporadic!!

Right back to the grindstone. *puts sweet smile back in place*

  19. Harry is on the upswing, yay! I swear by transdermal meds too; they kept Shaddo on track for several years. A bit expensive, but I gave up a few things to help compensate the expense (what's wrong with living on mac & cheese???).
