  1. The landmark children's television program Sesame Street premiered on this day in 1969, bringing such timeless characters as Big Bird and Oscar the Grouch into homes across the country. To this day, Sesame Street is one of the most watched shows worldwide.

    Martin Luther, a reformer who would found the modern Protestant movement, was born in Germany on this day in 1483. Luther became famous for the legendary posting of "95 Theses" on the Wittenberg Cathedral door, sparking the Protestant Reformation.

    I also didn't realize that Martin Luther era was the 1400's I was under the impression it was much older than that...
