  1. I previously posted on here about my 2 week old kitty having troubles going to the bathroom . I just wanted to update all of you who had such helpful advice that My kitty is now almost 6 weeks old and doing very well...she is now using the litter box! YAY! My 4 year old son decided to name her Suzie...and the name fits her she is so cute!
The only thing I am having problems with now is getting her to eat and drink from a bowl she still wants her bottle. She ate a little can kitten food for my mom! I take kitten chow and moisten it with water downed formula but she will not eat it...any suggestions would be great!

  2. Hiya! I ALWAYS use royal canin's baby cat instinctive mousse to wean kittens. Its a very soft mousse-like meat paste, that you can mix in with their formula to get some more calories into them. At 6 weeks your kitty should be eating on her own by now - she probably just likes the attention she gets from you :) Watch mommy cats with their babies at this age - they let them nurse a bit, and then swat the hell out of them . . . They need to learn to be independent. I'm not suggesting you swat your kitty :) Just take some canned kitten food, or the royal canin, whatever suits your fancy (PLEASE just not something that contains fish), and force feed it to her. Get a good hunk of food on your finger, pry open the mouth, shove in the food. Sounds crude, and it's messy, but I promise you, bu the third mouth-full she'll be munching your finger. As soon as they realise the new stuff fills up a tummy a lot better than formula, they're weaned.

  3. warning: never ever get dry food wet. It causes exponential bacteria growth.

Better never use dry food at all; only wet food (or raw).

  4. I had the same problem with Gallo.... I made him a thick grool from the KMR.... and mixed it with wet food.... I treated it like our bottle feeding time... I put water in the bottle or really THICK milk and made it hard to get anything from the bottle that way he would eat his nice warm grool and or wet food.... it to him awhile to get used to it, so don't rush it..... Gallo is a healthy 6 month old kitten!

  6. Thank you for all of the advice! I am trying the wet food today and will see how that goes. She ate it for my mom over the weekend when my husband and I went away but not for me. Kids always do things better for other then their mommy right?! ;-)
Just curiouse SKYRON---why no fish?! I didn't get any with fish but just curious as to why?!
I will keep you all updated on Suzie! I would like to share a picutre with you guys but i do not know how :-(

  7. If you feed her fish at this stage, I realize they grow up to be really fussy about their food later on. Try getting Hill's A/D. It can be mixed with formula into a thick gruel, it's high in calorie and smells yummy too. They usually take to it very well.

  8. The protein value in fish is too high for kittens' tummies to handle. The worst cases of explosive diahrrea I've ever seen came from fish . . .

  9. Her momma would be not nursing as much--she would be hungry enough to eat on her own then. Do not feed dry yet, and try warming the wet food a bit to make it smell more.

  10. Suzie is now eating some wet food YAY! and drinking her milk and water from a bowl. I had shut her in the bathroom away from me to get her to do it. She has taken over the bathroom...its her own little playroom/bedroom haha. She is doing well being away from me to eat! I'm guess it might be because she is always with me...I'm a stay at home mom so I was always around with her as well. So, so far so good YAY!!!! Thanks everyone for the advice I really appreciate it...this is my first time doing this with an orphan kitten!
