  2. Wonderful story Dee! I wish every Shelter would take advantage of programs like these. The one inmate said it best when he said "We know how it feels to be locked up all the time" With every shelter so strapped for cash I don't understand why this isn't being done everywhere.

  3. This has been done here, in Maricopa County, for quite a long time. One of the shelters is adjacent to the jail.

  8. This is definitely a heartwarming story and I hope it catches on all over the country. God knows now with our economy and the overfill of all the shelters that they can really use free volunteers and I feel like it's theraputic for the prisoners as well. There's something about taking care of an innocent animal and the love and gratitude they give back that has to be very healing to an unruly, disrupting person. Definitely, I see this one taking off big time. If not then the people running these prisons and our gov. are just dumb as rocks!
