  1. Awwwwww...I saw Oscar the grouch on Bonnie Hunt Show the other day...He didn't look a day over 20! LOL! I remember sitting in front of Sesame Street with my kids when they were little. Sigh...Those were great times! =D

  5. Can you tell me how to get/ How to get to Sesame Street? OMG, I grew up watching Sesame Street; I loved Cookie Monster, Big Bird was cool, Oscar the Grouch had issues, Grover was too weird for me, I loved the Yip-Yip aliens, the Count rocked, - exactly when did Elmo come into the picture? When I became too old to watch? - can you tell I'm a '70s child? I loved the animated segments that were, for lack of a better description, psychedelic. I also liked the slice of life segments that showed what real children did on a daily basis, although I was sad because I thought those children were better than me because they got to be on TV and I didn't.

  6. KK had issues with Oscar the Grouch's name. Heaven help anyone who pronounced Oscar the Kiwi way. It HAD to be pronounced as Aarscar. She would throw a right royal hissy fit if we didn't say it as she deemed correct. It got to the stage we wouldn't go near her if Sesame Street was on in case we earned the wrath of KK. That said she learned so much from SS, right back at the beginning.
Oh the yip-yip aliens, you should see KK,Airy,Meegz miniKK and myself when we get together at Christmas. We do the yip-yips and the ma-nun-a-nah songs and any others we can think of. We laugh until our ribs hurt and tears streak our faces. There will always be 'the kid' in us and it's fun to let them out to play.

  7. Hee hee, my (little) brother Dominic and his best friend Philip (he had red hair and a huge smile and was a real firecracker) perfected a routine based on the Cookie Monster... In fact, whenever I think of Philip I see him saying "Cookie" in a Cookie Monster voice... I think he's a Buddhist monk now but I'm not sure....

  8. I love the ma-mun-a-nah monster...Wayne has that as one of his cell phone ringers :)
I used to LOVE Grover!!! and Snufalupagus(sp)...
I have to admit Maddie doesn't watch SS at all. She loves Elmo though and knows the characters...

  9. I think the way I pronounced Oscar was a sure sign I was destined to marry an American! Jcat, one of miniKK's soccer teammates had a technique where he would run at an opposing player during training yelling "Cookie Monster!". It really put them off their stride.

  10. And Bert and Ernie were responsible for my addiction to peanut butter and jelly (well, raspberry jam here) sandwiches which I had for probably every day of my school life.

  14. My favorite will always be Oscar the Grouch--fits my personality! Then there was Grover! That little monster was a blast! I also loved Susan, Bob, and Mr. Hooper!

  15. Gosh, I remember Mr Hooper (barely). I don't remember Teeny little super guy at all -- was that his name, MS? Must have been well after my time.

I always felt sorry for Ernie... Bert was so mean to him...

  25. As a side note--has anyone ever noticed that the 2 policemen in "It's a Wonderful Life" are named Bert & Ernie? I always wondered if that is where they came up with the SS character names!
