Don't let a black cat cross your path! LOL Many of us have black cats and know that is not a bad thing! I had two cross my path this am. Hope all are well. This has been the longest week so the kits have made a HUGE buffet full of hot fresh goodies! Help yourself to something off the buffet, grab a drink and don't forget to "tip" you kitty waiter with a smooch or a scritch or a belly rub! Happy "almost" weekend all!

Good morning and happy Friday!!
Had an okay sleep last night..better than the night before. The girls and I are spending the day with my sister...we are going to Target, lunch and to the mall. We need to get out of the house so it should be fun. Maddie loves Target because if she is a good girl she gets an Icee to drink when we leave :) She loves Icees.
I used to work for Icee almost 20 years ago and I loved that job..but that was in California and I had to move here...
Girls not up yet, but will be so I will be scarce this morning, as usual, so I can make breakfast and get everything ready to go :)
I hope everyone has a wonderful wonderful day!!Posted 2 years ago by cricketsmama #

Morning fambily! Happy FRIDAY!!!!!
Sounds like you have a fun outing planned with the girls, Jen :-)
I was out sick yesterday with cramps and diarrhea again (boohoo). I'm ok today, but I've been to the bathroom three times in the last 45 minutes. Not a good start to the day...still trying to find something that stops the loose stools. I've been trying Activia and yogurt with acidophilous, pancreatic enzymes ... nothing seems to stop it. I can use Imodium, but I'd like to find a different way to prevent it happening in the first place. Sigh...

Hi everyone! A black cat crossed my path today, yikes! Ok, I'm being very sarcastic; a black cat crosses my path at least a half a dozen times before I leave for work each morning, and I wouldn't have it any other way! Been thinking that last year this time hubby and I were unbelievably miserable holed up in a small section of our living room, but Leela gave us hope, even though her living conditions weren't much better. I treasure her every day!

Geez, this east coast storm is destroying our shores! The fragile Outer Banks of North Carolina have been battered and the only road through, highway 12, has been breached. Those beautiful dunes are gone. Saw this a few years back with hurricane Isabel. It cut an inlet right thru an isolated beach area that hubby and I discovered (having a mile of beach to ourselves was wonderful!). The beaches all the way up to south Jersey aren't faring much better.

Hello, all! Wow, Joan, I didn't realize it was getting that bad on the East coast.
Siobhan, sorry to hear that you're having a tough time this morning.
There is only 5 of us clerical in the office today. All the members and staff are at a seminar for the day. Although we get a lot of work done when they are not in, we also have a "party" for lunch and are more relaxed with our work. Speaking of which, I'd better get some done.Posted 2 years ago by LadyKat of IA #

Morning all! I am still struggling with allergies and a mild case of the crud. I have blown my nose so many times this morning that I now have a nosebleed! Yuk!
I could do with another lemon donut this morning and maybe some hot apple cider!
Joan so sorry to hear about the mess that the hurricane is making. Flooding, beach erosion and the lot. Hopefully it will blow itself out to sea soon so the clean up can begin.
TGIF everyone!

Black cats have played a major role for centuries in folklore, superstition, and mythology. Black cats in the middle ages were believed to be witches' familiars, and some people even believed them to be witches incarnate. Many of these old superstitions about black cats exist to this day. Depending on one's area of the world (and the century one lived in), black cats portend either good or bad luck. Here are some examples, a couple of them quite involved, with some tongue-in-cheek asides.
In Asia and the U.K., a black cat is considered lucky.
In Yorkshire, England, it may be lucky to own a black cat, but it is unlucky to have one cross your path.
To dream of a black cat is lucky.
On the other paw, seeing a black cat in your dream indicates that you are experiencing some fear in using your psychic abilities and believing in your intuition. I wonder who makes up these things?
A funeral procession meeting up with a black cat is believed to forecast the death of another family member.
In 16th century Italy, people believed that if someone was sick he would die if a black cat lay on his bed.
In North America, it's considered bad luck if a black cat crosses your path and good luck if a white cat crosses your path. In the U.K., switch the colors, I guess unless you live in Yorkshire.
Finding a white hair on a black cat brings good luck. Don't pluck it though, or your luck may turn bad.
A strange black cat on a porch brings prosperity to the owner. (Scottish Lore)
A black cat seen from behind portends a bad omen. (And a black cat seen from the front is a GOOD omen?)
Ahhh...an explanation here: If a black cat walks towards you, it brings good fortune, but if it walks away, it takes the good luck with it.
If a black cat crosses your path while you're driving, turn your hat around backwards and mark an X on your windshield to prevent bad luck. Oh my, what if you aren't wearing a hat? Or you're not carrying a felt-tip pen or lipstick? Please, don't try this one at home!

Glorious sunny day here in SW Michigan. Maybe will get to 60. Whoda thunk in November?? :-)
It was literally 'raining leaves' in our back yard yesterday! Of course, city leaf pickup happened in the morning, and the leaves rained off the tree in the afternoon (lolol). Looks like we'll be raking and moving leaves to the boulevard again for the second leaf pickup on Nov. 24.
When Tansey was a young kitty, she loved to chase leaves.

Good morning, all!
I'm having a good Friday the 13th so far. Breakfast with GG, went to walk a dog and then home. The weather is gorgeous - sunny and 70 degrees, so I took the boys out for half an hour. They love this weather!
Heading out in a while to meet a friend for lunch.
My kind of day!Hope everyone's having a good one!

I have wonderful memories of Shaddo and Jiggs playing in the leaves when they were little. Leela won't know what that's like, however she likes watching them fall and it's windy today so they're blowing around like crazy! I hope she has a nice day at her window, though I wish I was with her. No plans tomorrow - hopefully we can have all day together for some quality time!

Tommy was all black; I don't think he even had so much as a non-black whisker on him. Tommy wound up living with my stepsons until Stepson #1 passed away, then Tommy ran away; I still don't know his whereabouts. I loved that cat, although he was a bit weird: I could give him a bowl of clean, fresh water, but he would drink out of mud puddles if PH or I were in the garden watering the vegetables or the trees. On a weirder note, I'll try to keep this question as clean as possible: has anyone out there (straight women, please) had their partner be, um, physically ice-cold when it's time for the 'act'? As in, um, 'all over, and not a warm spot to be found'?

It's not the black cats I have to be weary of today...it's Mr.Useless. After suggesting days ago not to plug a certain wall heater in that was given him...he did so anyways this a.m.& blew the whole back circuit of the house & almost blew the puter up.
Black cats are much safer than he is. Just ask Binky (he's sitting on my lap as I type-squaking for brekkie).
Have a Safe & Happy Friday & weekend all! -
