  2. Hi Deb! I'm lurking and watching The Tudors - we're up to Anne of Cleves now. Somehow I get the feeling she won't last long! Wind is blowing a gale here tonight. Went to the All Whites vs Bahrain football (soccer) game last night in the stadium in Wellington that is locally referred to as the Cake Tin. Felt more like being in a food processor - the wind swirls around in there. The game was fantastic as was the atmosphere and NZ is now through to the World Cup in Sth Africa for the first time since 1982. For a Rugby mad nation we can sure turn it on for soccer when the time comes!

  3. Evening KK, and I truly understand the winds though we don't get the gales here. Seems like NZ as a nation does go just a tad bit nuts over soccer!!! Not that the USA doesn't have its share of fanatical sports fans (of which I am not, lol).

  4. Deb, even some diehard rugby fans have admitted that the atmosphere at the soccer game was better than at recent major rugby games. We have lots of mad immigrants from football loving nations here, especially in Wellington eg. UK, Greece, Italy. I was absolutely fascinated by the whole ritual of the fans. Would make a wonderful anthropological thesis.

  5. Evening Deb and KK. The wind has finally dropped here after blowing all day like a minor gale as well as a few light skiffs of rain, just when Airy and I were out for our walk. It made our return walk slower as we were walking right into the wind. i had a lovely time this morning catching up with an old friend I hadn't seen for over 2 decades, we won't leave it quite so long next time. How's w**k going tonight Deb. Any better than last night?

  6. It would make an interesting thesis, thats for sure....just seeing some of the games on tv is at times overwhelming with their rituals.

  7. Evening Kiwis and Deb. Yep, goodbye Anne of Cleves (who, by the way, was played by Joss Stone the singer and looked absolutely gorgeous to me) and goodbye Thomas Cromwell, what a highly unpleasant and bloodthirsty lot they all were... Great frocks and palaces though...

  8. Evening Jcat - was just debating with MrKK whether Oliver Cromwell was related to Thomas - he was his great, great, great nephew!
