If you would be willing to e-mail me your mailing address, I will make sure it gets to the 65 or so of us on Ange's Christmas card list. You could then get the cards to the family. Or, we could send them to the hospital your son is staying at. My e-mail address is cdcarlson at excite dot com. {{hugs}}

Shelley, I, too, have been away from the computer during the weekend. I am hugging you in spirit and pray that Larry will receive the strength from God to fight through the pain and trauma. May his family be blessed by the warm thoughts and prayers coming their way. And may you be comforted by the support of friends you have at TDK!

Continued healing lights and energy. Kidneys functioning again are an awesome sign.
We have a police officer here who was burned when someone hit his patrol car. He has severe damage to his outside, to his skin, but he is an amazing man internally, who now does motivational speaking. My son heard him in high school. -
Shelley,
All of my healing thoughts and prayers to you and the girls. Please keep this little thing in mind...when something is bothering me that I just can't work out I get down next to my sleeping kitties and whisper into their sweet ears. Problems, thoughts of hope, observations, thankfulness. I know God has a special connection to His creatures so my boys have heard the names of your loved ones and I am sure that they will pass it along. Hugs to you. You will be in my prayers.

Larry sounds like a fighter, I'm continuing to pray for him and your whole family.
(I'm pretty selfish about TDK too, I know exactly what you mean)

Thanks all. Karenopa, I have been napping a lot. I have been having trouble sleeping all at a time but do manage a couple of hours here and there. MCW--you sure pegged my son! He has always had an iron will and I know he will fight just to get back to his daughters and his wife. I went to their house today and I gotta tell ya, his middle daughter has the same will and sense of humor too--she decided that their Christmas tree will stay up til Daddy comes home and all she really wanted to know was if he still had hair on his butt! I am sure that since my son has been bald since he was 19, he told her that he had more hair on his butt than he did his head and she never forgot it!

Awww Shelley.
I just read this thread,
So sorry this had to happen. I know you are scared and worried, and I am holding you right now and giving you comfort.
Sending you, Larry and his family positive, healing energy. I hope that things turn out for whatever will be the best. I understand about praying for healing or praying for release. Where do you and they live? Did they lose a lot of the house? I agree, can you post your email address? You ARE with family here, and we are all concerned.
Peace, hugs and purrs.Posted 4 years ago by artistabobbi TX 1/17 #

Shelley, my prayers are with your son and his family. It is just fine that you want to keep TDK as your personal comfort zone, we are here as a special family and it doesn't matter whether you currently have any animals. Larry sounds like quite the young man with a fighting spirit to get back with his family. Bless you and yours.

Good morning all. Thanks for the continued well wishes and positive thoughts--Boyzandme, they really DO help and I am grateful for them. I finally got 8 straight hours last night and eating is getting better--when stressed like this I crave caffiene--coffee and coca-cola--but have been eating some. Now that some of the initial shock has worn off I am trying to settle in for the long haul. If my son survives this, the healing and rehab is going to take months if not years and I have always been his rock. My ex, his dad, has his own health problems but I already told him he is not allowed to crash and burn--we may not be married but this is a family situation and I can't do it alone. Thank God we managed to maintain a civil relationship through the divorce and after 8 years we have managed to become friends. Today is the first day that they are going to do any major procedures--trach and feeding tube to make it easier on the burns on his face and get him adequate nutrition--doctor said he is using a tremendous amount of energy to fight this and the i.v.'s just don't give him enough. I was supposed to go to their house and clean today--there is ash and soot EVERYWHERE--but we are getting freezing rain right now so it will have to be tomorrow. That is o.k. I think I need a day to do "normal stuff" like laundry and I was in the middle of putting up my Christmas decorations when this happened. Well I realize that this post is getting ridiculously long so will close for now. Thanks for letting me ramble--it seems like years since I've talked about anything other than Larry's condition! Thanks again all. Will check in later and let you all know how today went.

Please do keep in touch. I'm glad to hear that Larry's such a fighter; that will help him get through the challenges and pain to come. You, Larry, and his family continue to remain in my thoughts and prayers.

Shelley, I think I can speak for all the TDKers..you ramble as much as you need to. We are all very concerned and also realize that you need a place to release...Larry, Gayle & the girls as well as you will remain in our thoughts & prayers for as long as you need us....Know that we care and you always have this group to lean on!!! And I'm glad to hear your not going out with freezing rain coming down..Stay where it's safe..Do what you need to do..the soot can wait for another day...

Shelley,
May God bless you and hold you, your son and his family through this awful time. My hugs and prayers are and will continue to be with you.

Shelley I'm so glad to hear that your son is doing better,he is so lucky to have you,a strong mom, in his corner. You're right about the time for rehab, I used to work in a Burn Center in the '80s. It takes time but your son sounds sufficiently motivated and has lots of family support and many concerned people praying for him and your family. God Bless.

Another prayer being sent today as the doctors continue their care. Hugs to you, Shelley, and comfort and healing prayers to Larry, Gayle, and their girls.
Keep us informed and let TDK be your support group.Posted 4 years ago by LadyKat of IA #

Shelley, I am late to this thread, but my prayers are added to those of the others on this site for the life and healing of your son, for the strength of his wife and daughters and the rest of the family, the skill of the doctors and nurses and the compassion of his caregivers.

Still praying Shelley! You just ramble, vent, tell crap jokes - whatever helps you to get through. You're right, it will be a lengthy recovery, and we're all onboard for the ride with you xx

Shelley sent me an e-mail accepting AnnF's suggestion that TDKers send cards to her granddaughters. I've forwarding the mailing information to everyone on Angie's TDK Christmas Card list. If you aren't on the list or haven't received my e-mail, send me an e-mail at cdcarlson at excite dot com so I can get it to you.
Let's do it, TDK!!

Shelley, may you and your family know Emmanuel, "God with us," in your times of fear and worry and pain. May you find comfort and healing in Him, knowing that He understands every feeling you have because he shares it. Sending along sandpaper kisses from my Penny and headbonks from my Buttercup.
-
Shelley, you definitely sound better after a good nights sleep. I continue to pray for you and keep you in my thoughts. One day at a time sweetie..we'll all go through this with you! Shelley - As everyone has said, you go ahead and ramble as much as you want and need! We are all here for you. Larry really does sound like a fighter, and I hope that it is a good sign that they are going ahead with the trach & feeding tube. And what a wonderful family you have. I'm continuing to send prayers and healing energy to your son, you and your family. {{{HUGS}}}
