Well yesterday was an experience in h*ll. I collapsed buying a turkey for Thanksgiving. Was rushed to the hospital. 5-6 hours of waiting then taken into emergency surgery. Incarcerated Femral Hernia the size of a peach or baseball. They had to cut the ligaments and tendon in my thigh to repair--seems I need those for walking. But as you can tell I am fine--hubby brought me my computer so I wouldn't be lonely or bored. Would it suprise you to know that I am actually working on my school work? I could use a prayer or two so I can get out of here. They are the nicest people, but I would like to go home. I was allowed to get up 2 hours ago for the fist time since surgery. Mobility is slow, but I am doing it with no help. I'm a tough old bird my hubby said.

Oh, my goodness!! What an awful thing to happen to you, but I'm glad you were taken care of and are recuperating. And thanks for letting us know what happened (thanks to hubby for the computer). But maybe you should just concentrate on getting better and not on school work!! I'll definitely say extra special prayers for you.
Last year, I had an emergency appendectomy the first of December, so I kinda know what you're going through! Take care.

H***s bells, whoah, back up a bit, you had emergency surgery YESTERDAY and you're working on school work TODAY? Have you never heard of rest, woman? Take it easy! Slow down! Make the most of being forced to stay in bed!

Could this be related to the other health problems you have had recently? If I remember correctly, the kidney problems were only about a month ago? And the stomach problems, too?

OMG! SM, I saw the thread title and held my breath. That dang turkey, I blame the turkey, it was too heavy for you to be lifting. I'm so glad you had this attended to fairly quickly and are bouncing back. However! You must rest, forget the schoolwork and take this opportunity to completely relax, you owe that to yourself.

Dang it woman! No more turkey lifting for you! Sending you lots of healing energy. Now lie back and take it easy once you've got that test sorted - (because we know you will do it despite our advice not to!). Don't make us send for WWM!!!

Knowing better than to say 'rest and forget the test', just get the dang thing done and then will you let your body REST and HEAL!!! How danged scary can that be, you will be telling your students stories....'Imagine to my surprise, I went to pick up the turkey and......' Thank you all do much. I was refusing the meds because I didn't hurt as bad as Saturday night. I wanted to get up and move. While I was not seeing pretty rainbows I wrote my test for tomorrow. My kid is actually writing my lesson plans--go figure. Anyway I just took my meds. I have another problem. Bladder will not let go. They are talking catheter--over my dead carcass. I sent hubby after some cranberry juice. With the bladder happy watering!

SM, how scary! I'm glad you are doing OK. Turkeys are evil birds; around here they love to hang out next to the expressway and then just sort of wander into 70 mph traffic. Well, maybe they are not evil, just stupid. Take it easy now, and let you poor body do some healing.
