(92 posts)
  1. My prayers are with you for healing, SM. I wish you no pain and a restful night. Please, don't worry about school, just rest, feel better soon and no turkey lifting. I hope the meds make you comfortable. Peace and love, and may the angels look after you and comfort you as you sleep.

    Much love, Mama Lynn

  2. Liz,if the pain meds don't work get them to call your Dr(the surgeon if necessary) for stronger pain medicine and a sleeping pill in case you want that later. I've been cathed I know it sux but once they do it you'll feel much better. Sometimes after surgery it is so hard to go.I hope you feel better soon. [[[hugs]]]

  19. SM,

    Hope you are feeling better and welcome to the T-O-B club.
    I know how hard it can be to get the plumbing back in gear. Everytime I have been under anesthesia I have been unable to go on my own until the anesthetics have cleared, the first full bladder post removal of the bag has been cathed. 4 times now and the worst part is the nurses who think I don't know my own body.

    Sounds like you may be a jumpstarter like me. I think it is a disconnect where the brain "forgets" what that fullness means and that it has to open the floodgates. The cath is like walking the neural pathway through the pattern to re-establish the program.

    Get well soon.

  21. Thank you all so very much. The plumbing kicked in about midnight! I pulled a staple climbing into the hospital bed--told the nurse and he said to call him when I was ready to be cathed--hello what part of I went doesn't he get? I am going home today I believe. I have a sub for all week and the two days next week before Thanksgiving break. My daughter has a bird phobia--she really can't stand birds unless roasted preferably with a little barbecue sauce or butter basted. She now said "See I told you birds were evil!" Apparently if I hadn't picked up the turkey I wouldn't have had this happen. Wonder if the 25 pounds of litter, 18 pounds of cat food, and a 50 pound bag of dog food didn't do some damage too. You know those 15 pound birds are killers! I get to hang out for a week and live in my sweats--sounds almost relaxing to me! I am watching Price Is Right--boy do I miss Bob Barker!I will admit I already called the school and spoke with the head of the English department--just wanted to make sure my sub could find everything--my room is a disaster!

  22. Oh SM, I'm so sorry you're as sick as you are. Bless your heart, just take it easy. Enjoy your time off and just 'kick it.' I sure hope you are better soon. ((SM))

  23. SM I'm so glad to hear the floodgates finally opened!!! Sorry about the staple...will it need to be replaced? Yikes! I'm laughing at the "birds are evil" comment from your daughter...can't blame her for that one at all! From now on PLEASE let the store clerks do all the lifting of the heavy stuff..into and out of your basket then let your hubby unload them from the car and into the house. You're NOT superwoman. =) Please relax and get well til after Thanksgiving. Everyone will be counting on you coming back at 100%! Sending you lots of healing prayers my friend! {{{Liz}}}

  27. I am home! I have nice drugs to help with pain as needed. I am contemplating a nap! Hubby bought me a new Sudoku book and a new pencil. I promise I am taking it easy. I am exhausted--but so very happy to be out of the hospital.
