  1. Probably depends on who you ask LOL If they are overly salted, they're not very good. I, too, love nuts. I have been eating raw nuts for the past several monthts -- not roasted or salted, but already shelled. Walnuts, almonds, cashews... yum. I think (and I could well be wrong) that peanuts are not the healthiest of the nut choices.

  2. Peanuts are a nutritional powerhouse, but like all nuts, they are high in calories because they are high in fat (although they are healthy fats)...but studies have shown that 1 oz of nuts before a meal can reduce your appetite.

  3. Almonds are another superfood. I am following a 1600 cal a day diet and have 1/8 of a cup of almonds as my 10:00 am snack and that comes in at around 100 calories and is far more satisfying than any 100 calorie snack packs that hit you with more sugar than you realize. Nuts and Seeds are very important to nutrition as long as the amounts are held in check.

  4. given a choice, i snack on high protein foods. they keep my energy up.

and for the not squeamish, my IBS seems to have subsided for the day. Thank GOD is it a very rare thing now...

  5. Raw almonds are a super food and they are wonderful for you! Of course, all things in moderation. But they are an excellent "snack" and I believe that a serving is like 16 almonds, which is quite a bit. And, some studies show (personally I think this is a myth) that almonds can help relieve the symptoms of those pesky personal summers. I must say that didn't work for me. Raw peanuts, or unsalted :-) peanuts, are a great source of protein.

And don't forget yogurt! Tastes wonderful and is so high in calcium.
