Happy Monday everyone! Gee, Jen, you're Wonder Woman, to have most of your shopping done already!
I found a cute gag gift for a male friend of ours, it's called Weener Kleener soap. If you Google on the name, you'll see it (lol)
I'm getting books for my nephews this year, on making home-made things that go BOOM, Kapow, and Splat! They live on 35 acres and have lots of room to make these pseudo-explosives. I think my brother will have a good time helping them.
When they were younger, I gave them percussion instruments. Now I give them the knowledge to make explosives. Snicker. I love being the eccentric aunt.

I have most of my Christmas shopping done, too! Of course, I'm doing mostly money and gift cards since everyone wants something more than I can afford. They can save up and add my money to it to get what they want.
I hope everyone has a good week, especially MC with her surgery and those not feeling well.Posted 2 years ago by LadyKat of IA #

Hi everyone! Oh, there's Christmas shopping to be done? Guess I'd better get a move on! Yesterday was a wonderful, mild day. Did stuff inside and outside and got to open windows. Wish we could just skip the frigid temps this year, but I guess I'll not worry about that till the times comes.

No Xmas shopping for me yet but I did manage to put out some lites this weekend for it was warm & sunny! Thanks Kathays for the suggestion...a cranberry muffin sounds yummy along with my usual laarge black java to go! Smoochies to the little calico at the counter! -
Hi All. Christmas ?!?! I have birthdays to get through first. One of them is today, my youngest son is 25 today. How the heck did that happen?? I'm only 29 !
I'd love a chai tea and a lemon poppyseed muffin this morning.
Busy busy weekend... was able to check off most of my list ! I now have the laminate flooring in my garage for the Thanksgiving weekend project. Still need paint and baseboard, but it's a good start !

I've lived in my current home for twenty years. I'm MORE than ready to have my renovated kitchen COMPLETED. It's been half-ass for almost all that twenty-year time frame. We have two small countertop pieces to buy. Hubs finally made the paper pattern after talking about it for a couple of years (lol). There's tiling to finish on the walls under the cabinets, and a small hallway to strip. We have a chair rail in the hallway and lots of pretty oak trim that needs to meet Mr. Heat Gun(tm) and then get brought back to its original beauty. Then paint whatever's not covered by ceramic tile, replace the flooring, finishing touches around the back French doors and kitchen window... and gee. It will be time to move (lol).
We got some custom ceramic tiles made for us (a dozen decorative tiles) when we sold a very fancy necklace three years ago. The tile cost exactly the amount we got for the necklace :-) Probably will be the ONLY time I get custom anything, and doggone it... I want that tile in my kitchen where I can look at it, instead of piled on the counter where it could get knocked off and busted.
I told my husband a finished kitchen was what I wanted for Christmas this year.

Siobhan - I had a room added on the house (back when I was married) and the baseboard was never put in. I lived with that room for close to 2 years. Then one day, I got up, got my tape measure and headed off to Home Depot. The now ex said I couldn't do it... I didn't have the smarts. HA ! I certainly proved him wrong. The room finally got finished. I can't stand 1/2 finished stuff. Drives me batty.... well, any more that's a short putt. ;)
This is my house, so I get to do things my way, in my time frame. I will say, I will have to ask for help with the flooring. My son has done this in his house, and is willing to help. Frankly - he did a better job in his house than current man-friend did in mine !

2-Pop, home projects can be fun, but also maddening! Hubs and I do NOT work well together, and after every project we vow to never do another, but we must be gluttons for punishment....still together, though :))) We had a laminate floor put in the kitchen a few years back and it is oh so easy to care for...never looks dirty! Do have ceramic tile in the bathroom, but I have broken many bottles, etc. dropping them on that ungiving floor!

I agree. I worked well with ex-hubs until the alcohol affect kicked in. There was no reasoning with him at that point.. and none of my suggetions were ever good. Ahhh... and that is why he is the ex !
The worst part of this one will be emptying the closet ! I have no clue where I'm going to put all that stuff ! LOL

I have to admit, 2P, that when we rearranged our bathroom and moved the tub to the wall to make room for a washer & dryer, I distinctly heard my Dad's voice: "you see?". When we bought the house, almost 21 years ago, he had said the bathroom was a big waste of space, but I thought it was so cool to have a clawfoot tub in the middle of the bathroom with a skylight overhead, even though I knew he was right.

LOL @ JeanKit.... yeah, I have that happen too. Man-friend loves to offer advice... he will help, but not until I've got myself totally frustrated. Then he'll say, 'well, an easier way to have done it...' ARGH ! Of course, the help needs to be scheduled around football games. And this is why he is 'man friend' with his own place to live, and not a live-in or hubby! LOL

Oh the memories this thread brings, my legally married to husband (confusing huh) always started 'new projects or improvements' and never quite finished them. When I moved in September I had a nice but way too large oak dining table that he took apart, sanded down and just never quite put it back together project....gave it to one of the young men that helped move my stuff because he said he could actually put it together and his family didn't have a dining table. Wouldn't have been so sad except that the table was quite old and really in excellent condition, I just don't use tables like that any longer.
