  1. Today in 1864, General William Sherman began his famed March to the Sea in the fading days of the Civil War. He wove a path of destruction through the South, eventually reaching the city of Savannah and razing much of what he and his army passed. It would prove to be an important psychological as well as physical blow to the Confederacy.

Today is also the birthday of legendary video game designer Shigeru Miyamoto, born today in 1952. He rose to fame as the inventor of Donkey Kong, Super Mario Brothers and The Legend of Zelda, video game franchises that defined early Nintendo. He still works for Nintendo and rides his bicycle to work each day.

  3. Wow Dee, he still rides his bike to work, that's wonderful! You know he could afford a limo everyday for life. I still love those games, I believe they will be around for along time..

  5. Cool! I liked his statement: "Video-games are bad for you? That's what they said about Rock 'N' Roll."
