Ok, I'm still not going to stop eating my food that resembles cheese! Oh, and I'm surprised that "plastic" (instant) potatoes didn't make the list. Not that I would give that up either; just needs enough cheese, butter and seasoning!

The only one of those I'm embarrassed to actually have is the fake maple syrup, but PH eats that on his pancakes; I eat the real deal on mine. IDK: I like real food more since I stopped smoking nearly six years ago. I still eat cheese slices, but not the cr*p made with oil and other stuff that costs 99 cents.

I banned microwave popcorn in our home many years ago - much to the disgust of my sons - because I had heard about the "butter" used on it when a young woman had been working for one of the factories that make the "butter" had gotten sick after less than 6 months there with a lung condition. She had had a pre-employment medical check-up showing her with no lung problems and the employers and insurance company refused responsibility - claiming she had a pre-existing condition - which she was able to prove that was not the case. The man mentioned in the article who did develop a lung condition is from my town - and he would eat two bags every day and as soon as he opened a bag he would inhale the aroma and chemicals - causing his lung condition. My youngest still loves his microwave popcorn but not when he is visiting me. I also knew about the fake crab meat and the cheese, as well. The others I had no idea about, but am not surprised. (Well, actually I did know about the maple syrup)

Karencentennial they have a name for that - 'popcorn lung.'
I can't see the list, but I probably don't have anything on it - lol.
Joan if you don't want the plastic ones, they have real potatoes now that you microwave and mash up yourself. They're awesome. Just add butter, cheese and carnation milk and you're good to go. Of course, I put bacon bits on mine. Note that I said bacon bits, not bacos. LOL

yikes, as I sit here having a lunch consisting of bean soup (home made, so I know what's in it) and Ritz snowflake crackers (for the holidays) with Easy Cheese!!! I'm also guilty of eating the microwave popcorn (not too often), and American Slices. I knew a long time ago I didn't like the fake crabmeat.
And I have been guilty of going to a movie and having the "buttered" popcorn, though I seldom go to movies any more. Oh, well, I'm still alive, so I guess I haven't had any ill effects from what I've ingested!Posted 4 months ago by MaxandCali'sMom #

Vicki, here is my secret. Use Carnation milk, real butter and a wire wisk!! When I make the plastic potatoes everybody swears they are the 'real deal.'

Hmmm, they have the surimi and fake maple syrup here too but I avoid them. The more processed it is, the worse it is for your health and your weight... no matter WHAT it says on the packet. (And if it's in a packet, that's probably pretty bad too...)
Though I have to point out that cochineal (red food flavouring) has ALWAYS been made from crushed bugs. Bugs are real food too...
