  1. Hi, FH, hi, KW! There are a few hours of sunlight left here so I just ducked in before ducking out again to weed-whack the garden (the grass is too high to mow, alas, I've tried it...) I had to write a story today, think I've got it figured out in my mind, now I just have to get it down on paper, lol...

Catch you tomorrow if you've both gone to bed before I wander back! I am lucky, I will get to give MC a big hug in the morning before she leaves for her op. It is Wednesday here so I am already anxious...

Awww, FH, they are succumbing to your charms (and stinky cat food, lol)...

  2. Sounds like you are making progress with those kitties, FH. :)

Good luck with the article, Jcat. I don't envy you having to weed whack your grass. I hope you don't have a large area planted in grass. ;)

  3. I'm moving in March or April and I'm already worrying/wondering what I'm going to do with the kitties! My plan of taming Benny and hoping my parents would take him have sort of fallen through (but in a good way)

  4. Prayers for MC that all goes brilliantly tomorrow and that you heal quickly. Prayers for SM and everyone else in need of kind thoughts.

  5. I saw that your folks have adopted a big orangie, FH. I hope he is a good fit with them. Give us a report after you meet him!

  6. Hi, Marnet. MC has the entire energy of TDKers from around the world focused on her surgery tomorrow. That much combined white light might cause the planet to tilt off its axis! :)

  7. I should certainly hope so!

  8. I'm going to head out to do some reading. I've become hooked on Kathy Reichs mysteries about forensic anthropologist, Tempe Brennan. :)

    Sweet dreams to all!

  10. Oooo, sounds interesting and fun reading. Not too graphic I hope?

  11. Ooh, back with just a little more to go. Nighty-night, KW, the sooner I win Lotto and can buy a ride-on mower, the better, that's all I can say. Hi, Marnet, hi AV, sleep tight, AV, catch you tomorrow, I hope...

  15. Sorry, Poochi, I was answering another thread, of course we remember you, welcome back! I think everyone except me has gone to bed -- and I have to go off and get dinner in a minute. I'm glad to hear you and your menagerie are doing well :) How's life been treating you?

  18. That's great! I don't know if you saw but Mollycat has a big op tomorrow and Sox'sMom has just come out of hospital so we are very anxious about both of them at the moment. I am trying to think of other news since we last saw you but the time flies by so fast!

Anyway, as I said, I'm so sorry I have to go and cook dinner (it's 5.15pm here) but I will be back on the NS later. And we are all going to wish Amy all the best for her op before she goes to the hospital tomorrow morning. Looking forward to catching up with you now you're back! Take care and catch you later! I'm so glad you've come out of lurk mode.

  19. thanks jcat for the welcome back. enjoy your dinner. yes, i know poor mollycat is having surgery tomorrow. bless her brave heart, such a courageous woman. i hope the neurosurgeon and all the or team and all the health care professionals responsible for her care protect her and help her get well and on the road to a complete recovery. and poor soxmom, has had her share of illness too, another very courageous oman. hope you are feeling better after your emergency surgery soxmom.

  21. Welcome back poochi7! Of course you have been missed, had wondered a few times where you were and how you and your crew of furry & feathered ones were doing....had no email addy for you though so couldn't email and check on you. It has been slow a lot lately on the NS, coming up on the holidays and just life has gotten in the way at times (go figure). Of course you can be in the christmas card list.

  23. Evening all and welcome back Poochi7! Deb you are so right about life getting in the way sometimes. I read some of the posts today about people feeling invisible and it makes me sad that people think they have been ignored. As others have posted it can be hard to get through all the threads and often some have gone off the main page before I get to them at night. I am trying to stay off the site at work during the day so when I do get on like now things can be many hours old. Also, just because someone hasn't posted a comment doesn't mean they haven't read something and given some thought to that person. I hope we can make the Nightshift and the Cafe the main meeting places for people again.

  24. Hey there KK :) Hope that you had a productive day at least.
So very true, all the threads can be overwhelming when seen at once and I agree when I see them they are usually hours old. I try to read quite a few of them, don't always comment because sometimes I just can't think of anything to add (yeah braindust or something).

    http://cats.about.com/od/catpictures/ig/2009-Cat-Picture-of-the-Week/Veronica.htm what a pretty tortie

  25. I have to smile when I see that pup's face on the main page, it looks like my dau's Alaskan Klee Kai. I know it annoys others but it makes me smile anyways.

Posted 2 years ago by AZDEBRA 5/27 & crew #

  26. That's an unusal coloured tortie, or maybe its just the lighting in the photo. I had a very productive day and the rest of the week is going to be busy also - I may have to work this weekend which is annoying as its my 17th wedding anniversary. Not that I have made any plans nor have I heard of any from MrKK!

  27. Evening, KK and Deb, oh, Deb, what a gorgeous wee kitten and that photo with the beautiful creamsicle cat and the chihuahua pup -- thud!

It's so very sad that people think they are being ignored. I think sometimes it's as you say, Deb, we read the posting but can't think of anything useful or helpful to add, but it doesn't mean we're ignoring the person. Also, I am so lucky that I work from home and have no one looking over my shoulder logging the amount of time that I spend on here -- because it is a LOT. People who are working all day and then have families at home, they couldn't possibly spend that amount of time on here and even so, I have enough trouble keeping up...

Posted 2 years ago by jcat #

  28. Ooh, KK, you sneaked back in while I was typing! Happy Anniversary for this weekend! I hope you don't have to work during it, that's not on!

Posted 2 years ago by jcat #

  29. Hi Jcat. I hope I don't have to work either but my manager and I have a report due on Monday and only get the data on Friday. Might be able to squeeze in a nice dinner out somewhere though. How have you got on with your writing today?

Posted 2 years ago by KapitiKats in NZ #

  30. KK, it's kind of mapped out in my head. I haven't gotten it down on paper yet though -- that's tomorrow's task. But I am just like every other journo I know -- can't get it written till it's right up to the deadline... So I expect to be working over the weekend too -- mine's due on Monday as well -- but of course it's not my wedding anniversary...
