Prayers for Stumpie please

  1. I am so glad he is doing better. If your vet has given up on him take him to another one--always get a second opinion. Any reputable vet will send over his records to the new vet to review.

  3. SM, it's not that the vet doesn't want to fight for him, he was just being honest with me about the odds of a 750g kitty surviving anesthetic for so long. He was under for more than 2 hours yesterday. Hence my thinking that all the prayers must have helped a lot!

  7. Stumpie is going back to the vet tomorrow to get more xrays done, to see if his situation has improved with him being on a liquid diet. The vet and I are hoping that the kink-thing won't be an issue if he gets bigger, otherwise the little bugger is going to be on his soupy diet for the rest of his life. Which would be very expensive. He eats a can of royal canin recovery every day, @ R16.00 a can . . . So, fingers crossed, I'll keep you posted :)

  12. all the best to Stumpie. Both my Willow and Wicket are on expensive dies because of IBD and Urine crystals respectively.
But it's worth every penny ;)

  13. The vet decided today that Stumpie has to weigh at least 2 kgs before we can reconsider his situation about food. So for now the child will still be slurping his food . . .

  14. Slurping his food is better than no longer needing food at all.

  15. Very true. I told the vet - if he needs a feeding tube in his tummy, so be it, Stumpie does not want to give up. He was out in the garden all night hunting down flying ants tonight. He definitely has a lot more energy, and he has gained .3 of a kg in a week (he now weighs 1.3kg), so he's making progress :)
