  1. OLIVER TWISTED: Colton Harris-Moore, 18, is suspected in around 50
burglaries around the Seattle, Wash., metropolitan area in the last 18
months. He's also a fugitive after escaping from a halfway house after
one of his many convictions. Whenever a burglary victim -- or the
police -- spot him, Harris-Moore, who is typically barefoot, runs into
the woods and disappears. He grew up in the woods, and apparently knows
how to hide in them. Police are especially worried about a new crime
trend, which they think is being committed by Harris-Moore: airplane
theft. Several small planes have been taken in recent months from
hangars, where investigators have found bare footprints; all the planes
were found crash-landed. His mother, Pam Kohler, doesn't find much
wrong with her boy's activities. In fact, considering he doesn't know
how to fly a plane, he's doing pretty well, she says. "I hope to hell
he stole those airplanes," she told a reporter. "I would be so proud.
But put in there that I want him to wear a parachute next time." Locals
seem to think the hoodlum is some sort of folk hero for avoiding
capture, but police say they don't have the manpower to hunt him over a
huge area for simple property crimes. (Seattle Times) ...Let's see what
they all have to say when an empty plane crash-lands in a fireball at a
school, while a barefooted felon hanging from a parachute watches.

  2. WHAT?!?!? Oh, she is nuttier than a fruitcake ! Perhaps she has a different definition of "proud" than most folks ?!

  3. Until I saw the Seattle Times attribution, I was wondering if this was for real--maybe a post on some satire site.

  4. It is a real news article--she just has a misguided sense of right and wrong.

  5. Good grief. She sounds like the idiots a generation ago who thought Bonnie and Clyde, Pretty Boy Floyd, and like ilk were Robin Hood type heroes. With a mother like her, no wonder he's a weird, warped crook.

  6. Where the 'f' was child protective services when this BeBe Kid was growing up? For those unfamiliar with the term, a BeBe [pronounced bay-bay] Kid is a brat; the term was based on the movie, BeBe's Kids, which in turn was based on a comedy act by the late comedian Robin Harris about a potential girlfriend of his and her unruly children. For more information about the term, check out the link: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/B%C3%A9b%C3%A9%27s_Kids .

  7. Child protective services has it's hands tied because of the bleeding hearts who think it's wrong for parents, let alone anyone else, discipline a child. Please don't get me started.

  8. Tsk, tsk, tsk....Yes..I'd say this woman is on drugs and likely the son too. I'm so afraid for our youth of today. =(

  9. Lainey, she didn't have to hit him to discipline him; she could have just taken his privileges away.

  10. True, Vicki, and I didn't mean to imply hitting, though it came out that way, but it just seems that between parents not parenting and schools not allowed to properly discipline (and I mean more about how "oh, we can't hurt his/her self-esteem" etc.) that kids just get away with more and more and more, yet experts (and kids!) tell us they WANT limits, they WANT to know they won't be allowed to get away with hell on earth!

  11. Well, at least pilots know how to protect their planes now. Instead of a burglar alarm they just need to sprinkle broken glass and thorns all around their planes.
