I took my boy in for another urinary blockage on Sunday (yes - he always decides to have these episodes on the weekend during emergency room hours!). The doctor placed a catheter and he was there 2 nights. All went well...I had been wanting them to do the PU surgery and they called me Monday night to let me know that they could do it on Tues. With not much time to think about it, I agreed. They did the surgery Tues morning...the Dr called me at work and said all went well. Later on that day, around 4PM, I had another call stating that he was in respiratory distress!! He was panting and not doing well at all. What happened!! They said he had developed fluid in his lungs...they have him on oxygen and all kinds of meds to include the pain patch for the surgery. Today they did an ultrasound and found that his left ventricle was very think indicating an underlying heart condition. I am so sad for my boy right now. He looked so bad when I saw him today, he hasn't eaten since Sunday morning...they showed me his exrays and sure enough there was something in the lungs. But he was fine before the surgery!
Has anyone else had this happen? Now it seems the surgery he had is the secondary concern and his heart and lungs are now top priority. I am so sad...I do not want to lose him. They are doing all they can right now but I am not very hopeful.
Your prayers and advice will be appreciated...
Mary
