All going well Night Shift

(94 posts)
  1. I am sure that MC will want us to open the night shift so the doors are open. It is taco bar night. So help yourself to create a taco just the way you like it! The fountains are flowing--the margaritas are excellent!

Pull up a chair and share your day with a few friends, a kitteh or two, and remember whether your day is beginning or ending friends are waiting here for you!

  2. Hey there Soxsmom, pulling up a nice comfy chair as we speak with a good book and a kitteh to relax me. Oh and can't forget the margarita, woo hoo.

  3. Hi Deb and SM!.... agree, glad MC's surgery went well!...

.. SM, what is going on with the school????

  4. Husband is trying to sedate me--I am about to go stark raving mad! They told me I will not be allowed to return to work until all my restrictions are lifted! That is crazy. It isn't like I have to lift little kids! I don't lift 50 pounds on a daily basis and I sure don't need to lift 50 pounds to do my job! I teach English for God's Sake! I am very upset! I can not believe they are doing this!

  5. Thanks for opening night shift, Sm. Kicking back with a taco and a beer. Good news on Amy, all is well with the world. Pass me that little orangie tabby, please! Thanks, she is a purrer. Waiting for the rest of the crew.

  6. (((SM)))... how is this enforceable/legal?.... I would demand a verification of the written "regulation".... (bet they can't produce it!).....

what in the world could they be referring to?... are you supposed to be able to carry out a 50 lb child of a burning building?

Posted 2 years ago by AV #

  7. Hang in there, SM, they are only making sure you recover well. Do what they say, even though you may not like it. You must get well and not ever have this happen again. The kids are not the problem, it's the turkey! Stay calm. Are you home or still in the hospital? Hope you go home soon if not there already.

  8. I don't have that much time in sick leave. They will start charging me to pay for my sub. So staying home will end up costing me money--I really am concerned about that. My contract says I have to lift up to 50 pounds. This is very distressing. I know for a fact there are teachers in the building that can't lift that by themselves and they are not being released. I am truly distressed.

  9. Hi shifters! *waves*

Sorry about those stupid restrictions, SM - that sucks :(
Can I have a taco and a margarita, please?

Posted 2 years ago by GreatDane #

  10. Evening everyone. ((SM)) I am sorry about everything SM, that does suck. I hope it works out for you.
How is everyone tonight? We just got both girls in bed...ahhhh blissful quiet....

  11. Enjoy it while it lasts, CM!

I'm at the gym waiting for one more person to leave and then I'll get out of here early - yay!
Lost my tennis match today. Old Boss' wife used to play on the team we played against, and she came out to watch. I haven't seen her since she got sick and she looks terrible. She did 4 rounds of chemo and had two to go, but decided against it since they were making her so sick. She did at least seem to be in good spirits.

  12. Out early is nice GD. Sorry to hear about your Old Bosses wife. Cancer sucks.

Posted 2 years ago by cricketsmama #

  13. It sure does, CM. I feel so bad for her and her family :(

Last person left - I'm outta' here!!!!

Posted 2 years ago by GreatDane #

  14. Thanks for opening the taco bar, SM! Sorry to hear of what's happening at school. Do you have any idea how long you could potentially be out? Hang in there. On the bright side, we get to see a lot more of you!! (was that a comma splice? I'm really bad with those...smile)

  15. it's been a very long day , meetings at work for the h1n1 hospital guidelines.. it was very long and i have a 3 hour meeting on friday.. i came home exhausted from these meetings .. so much info ... i came home and went to bed for 2 hours ... we are still anxious about our home attempted to be broken into yesterday.. it's the holidays and people are desperate.. luckily i was home and we have adt... it's a very long story , the police caught the 2 men and they are in jail... i live in a nice neighborhood and i think people are trying anything to get what they can for drugs who knows.. they tried getting my backyard while i was on the phone to metro.. but it is impossible because i have a lock that is made of kryptonite and you can't get cut or even break it... to make a long story short .. i was expecting the plumber and i heard the bell opened the door , and a man was standing there mumbling and handed me a card . i thought uh oh .. went to close the door and he tried to push it open and come in .. wrong .. i am tough and closed and locked the door on him... he went and got his friend and they both tried getting in my garage which is impossible and tried breaking into my backyard while the police had me on the phone .. the kids were upset and my mom was so scared.. i went into adrenline mode and locked the house down with adt.. and the police were on the phone ... they arrested these dudes fast... but we were scared and shaken all day and all night .. the plumber came and fixed what he needed to do i paid him alot of money and he left ..... lol... what a horrible thing to go through.. he had a knife and could of killed us all... but he didn't and he and his friend are in jail... and we are all safe and have a exciting story to tell .... a lady 3 blocks away about a month ago opened her door and was attacked and punched in the face 40 times , she is alive thank goodness..... other than that my life is boring.... lol.... hope you all had a nice day.. and hope our amy is resting well ....

  16. OMG Beth...How horrifying. Thank god you and your family are okay. Boring is fine for life sometimes...especially after that ordeal. ((Beth))

  17. Gosh Beth what a scary thing to happen! I'm going to go put my floodlights on. It always bothers me cuz I think I'm helping them to see what they are doing if they want to break in, but all the experts say it deters criminals. I'm going to bed shortly and will put them on momentarily. Glad you are all safe!

  21. hi all
that is great news about amy. sorry i've been away so long, all is well with me. i would love to join the christmas card list again. how do i do it. it was great fun for me last year, and lifted my spirits at a time of year, when you live by yourself, can be a bit depressing. not that i really live by myself, with all the crew that i have in my house, but i think you know what i mean.

and thanks for the welcome back from jcat and soxmom - i thought no one would remember me :)

    Posted 2 years ago by poochi7 #

  22. yes keep your flood lights on , we always have our outside lights on at night and i keep a light on in the dining room which is near the back of the house.. i have adt stickers all over my windows and outside doors , someone stole my ADT sign so i just got more stickers .. lol... i was shocked that i was stupid enough to open the door to a starnger.. luckily i was strong enough to push the door closed..and lock ddown the house.. they were yelling " we know your in there" and banging on the door... the police said ' we can hear them yelling and banging on the door" .. it was scary.. but i kept everyone calm ..and then i started balling after the police left..lol.. we all had a group hug and i kept the kids in for the rest of the day to feel safe... i was shaking like a leaf afterword.. the only reason why i let the plumber come was because i had to get the toliet fixed ... lol...be very careful these days...

  25. thanks beth for the welcome back. i see that you had a very frightening experience at home. than God everything turned out to be ok. we live in a changing world and there are desperate individuals who are on the prowl to cause mischief. we can't be too careful.

  27. Beth what a scare--I am glad you were quick and got him out of your door! Your neighbors should be thrilled that you have these thugs out of your neighborhood.

Poochi7! I am glad you are back tonight, I missed you yesterday. Do you have last years Christmas List? I will be happy to forward the list if you would like.

As for my job--I want to work and there is no Earthly reason I need to lift 50 pounds to teach English.
