  1. 600 of the cows have been butchered in the last 4 days. The last ones will be done before Sunday. Its really hard on my aunt because she raised all the cows (she fed calves before we did there) and the owners. You can get really attached to some of the animals...they may be cows but to people that know each one they aren't just cows.

No more cows means no more calves obviously so I'll have a job for a monthish yet. IF they get two more calves though me and my dad will have raised #2121 - #2727 which is kinda cool :) Is that God's timing or what?

  2. Oh FF50, I know that cows are raised to be slaughtered (eventually) but that just seems like such a wicked waste of life and so cruel. I'm so sorry. Your aunt must be feeling terrible.

Do you know yet what this will mean for all your kitty friends in the barn? Is the whole place being sold?

  3. I am so very glad that you are trying to be positive. The pain you feel is much more than you are showing. I wish there was something I could say, but I really am at a loss. I am sorry seems a little to little. My prayers are with you.

  4. Okay so somewhat confusing with where the cats are:

Our original diary farm is where they are. They farm there is being rented out but I'm still allowed to have all the cats there.

The dairy I am working for now has no cats (else lol I'd try take them with me).

I can still feed the farm cats just have to try keep feeding them raw slightly cheaper (basically just more pork, less beef, no more organic liver). Won't have any money coming in so I'll have to get it from my savings account until I can get another job.

The cows are just dying much before they should have...and most of them are pregnant besides. Its not just one life each time one is butchered but two :(

  5. My heart is aching for you--your love of these animals is great. I can't help but think that matters somehow.

  6. I'm glad the cats will be all right. I'm sorry, I'd forgotten they were on your original farm.

I will be hoping and willing for you to get another job asap, and one you like and are good at :) It has to fit around school, if I remember rightly, but I bet you are a wonderful worker, and I'm sure everyone in your community knows that.

It is terrible about the cows, and especially with them being pregnant. It's just heartbreaking. Modern intensive farming has a lot to answer for.
