Well as for me, I don't always have the time to read them all, but I try. so keep me on the list. If I don't like the email, I delete it...If I love it, which so often I do (especially the icanhascheezburger) and Dee's new stories that I would otherwise never run across then I forward those on to family and friends.

Email etiquette ?

I always love getting everyone's email; if it's something I'm not interested in I just delete it. One note of etiquette I would like to point out though: when you forward an email to others you should delete the prior "sent to" sections. I've seen real trouble start when others get a stranger's email. So please delete before you forward.

I don't mass email a lot, but I have a policy of not mixing my groups. If I email to TDK people then only TDK people are on the email. That way no one else gets involved. Same with my women's clubs, co-workers, etc. Yes I amy have to send an email a couple of times, but it saves any confusion. I never saw HLB's email so not sure what it was about. Just chiming in in general terms. Many of you will see an email from me next week with a request to not send me anything while I am out of town. I'll include the specific dates and when I am back email can continue.

Please, people, try not to be so sensitive. The only replies I saw to HLB's original email were the one from FH pointing out that the story was on Snopes as a hoax and another from a very respected TDK member simply pointing out honestly (in a forthright manner) that they didn't agree with those views and preferred not to receive them. There was no name calling and no swearing in any email I saw.
Whoever said don't discuss politics, religion and sex at the dinner table was very wise, I think :)
We are a diverse group with diverse views and it would be nice if we could all cut each other a bit of slack, as we are all FABULOUS people :) and worth the trouble!

you are very worng on that point Jcat, i got personal emails after i asked the both of them not to use the "reply all" button as my family members were getting these emails as well..would you like a forward, or better yet a screen shot of the email i am being called names in since it does not exsist???

Geez, did I not apologize? I really am sorry! I truly am! I learned my lesson and will not 'reply to all' ever again.

One thing I would like to point out is that the problem I had has nothing to do with what HLB is talking about. I was simply agreeing that it is not a good idea to use 'reply all' in a situation like that because the emails go to people who may not welcome emails from people they do not know. Not only that but people such as HLB's grandmother can inadvertently be hurt because as HLB said, she is just learning about computers and email, and is now afraid to use email.
What happened to me is that I was receiving emails from people who claimed to be visitors to TDK who did not like a recent post on my personal website. These emails were sent to two separate email addresses - only one email address is shown on my website so I do not know how they got my gmail address. To the best of my knowledge, none of these emails came from my TDK family, just from people who clicked on my avatar and were taken to my website.
I used to feel much more comfortable opening myself up to people here, but at this point, I am beginning to feel a lot more vulnerable because of the attacks of strangers. This is why I have decided to take a break and take some time to regroup while I decide whether or not to take my website down completely or just to find a different venue for my self expression.
I just want everybody to know that it was not anything done by those who I consider family that has caused me to decide to stay away for a while. I just need to take some time away to decide the best plan of action in dealing with the people who are attacking me.
