  1. will they still be affectionate?

my kitten is 6 months, I know he is more of a cat not a kitten but he is evver too cute lol.

anyhoo, he is soo affectionate to me and i love that, I love when he comes and lies on me just to have me pet him, would that change? after he's fixed?

btw: How do we add pictures here?

  2. My Deuter Bug is a social boy! He is a little love kitten! He was neutered at 3 months. My little girl Teaser was spayed at the same time--3 months and she is just the opposite. I don't think it really changes them when they are fixed. If they are predisposed to being snuggle kittehs that will continue. In the long run it is proven that cats live longer healthier lifes if spayed and neutered. May your cat be neutered and enjoy a very long and healthy life with you.

  3. I have 3 and all of mine were different. My oldest cat (Kree) was fixed when he was 5 months old and his personality changed drastically over the months following...but eventually we just chalked that up to him "aging" and maturing. My brother and sister cats were fixed at 12 weeks...both were very lovey and clingy before and its been over a year now and they are just just as lovey!

  4. I've actually tried to see changes in each of mine after they were fixed and to tell you the truth the only thing I've ever learned by observing is that cat personalities are fickle. One minute they can't get enough of you...then they're slinking low beneath your pet and refusing to even allow you to pet them. Hhahaha! Definitely 'Fickle Felines'! It's always a guessing game at our house. =D
Bottom line though is it is healthier for your kitty to be neutered and it's vital in reducing the numbers of unwanted cats that all the shelters today are overwhelmed with. Thousands and thousands of homeless or unwanted cats are euthanized in this country each year.

  5. I agree 100% on getting them "fixed"..same with cats as dogs..if this isn't enough to urge people get them fixed i don't know what is...my recent story...

I have a 13yr old female chihuahua that i inherited last summer when my dad died. She was always well taken care of but for whatever reason my dad did not see it fit to get her spayed. Well last month she started acting very funny, then very ill, and with in a matter of 24 hours wouldn't even lift her own head. We took her to the vet and found out she had "pyometra"..and infection of the uterus...her uterus had ruptured and she had gone septic and had a 50/50 shot of making it even after and emerg. surgery! We went ahead with it, even knowing our odds..she was my dads baby and i couldn't let him down. She spent 4 nights int he emerg. 24 hour care vet and was finally about to come home....but it was so very critical and she was in so much pain and almost didn't make it...The vet said none of it would of happened if she had been spayed =( in the end we got back a healthy 13yr old "mean"(her old self) chihuahua along with a 917 dollar vet bill!!!

It is ALWAYS a good idea to have your animals fixed no matter their species! =)

  6. My Hopper was feral for 14 yrs. before he had his 'jewels' removed. Not only did he not miss them but, he's become the most lovable of all my indoor ferals (8). :)

  7. No..behavior will not change. Sophie is spayed and she is the most affectionate cat ever...everytime my bf's over she is all over him and she purrs when I come home from work and sleeps with me every night :)

  8. My Cloud and Salem (both males) were fixed at 6 months and remained just as affectionate as they always were. I've never heard of a cat becoming less affectionate after being fixed. There should be no issue here.

  9. We rescued a male cat and got him neutered. 12 years later he's still the most affectionate cat I've every seen. He goes on our laps every night and sleeps with us and curls up against us, etc. The only behavior that will probably change is that he'll be less likely to get loose to find cats in heat and fight with male cats.

  11. Shakespeare was neutered at age 5 months, and he's 17 now. If it wasn't for the electric fence on our wall, he'd still be out looking for girls every night. Before that, NOTHING could stop him from getting out. He still sits in front of our gate with misty eyes at night, hoping for a pretty girl to walk by . . . I dont think anyone ever told him he's shooting blanks. As far as personality goes, he always was and still is a lover-boy.
