  1. single serve coffee maker. (Sorry, didn't want people to think that this was spam!) I'm seriously thinking about getting one but would love to find someone who actually has one. Will this become ANOTHER kitchen gadget that I'll have to find room for in another cabinet? :)

    I got a 20% off coupon just for registering w/them online! :)

  2. A hotel that we visit quite often has one of these (or something very similar) in the rooms. I like it much better than the usual hotel coffee makers.

For pure convenience though, I find my little Mr.Coffee microwave coffee maker is great. Fast, easy, and great for fast clean up.

  3. No I haven't used that though I've been tempted. I have used these "non electric" types where you buy a cup and a little filter cup to match, you grind the beans very fine and I always enjoyed coffee this way and no new kitchen gadget to get in the way.

  4. I have a coffee maker that makes the coffee and them you push the button with your cup to dispense. It is great in my classroom because others come into my room for coffee. There is no pot. I will be interested if you get this though. I like gadgets too!

  5. My brother has that coffeemaker on his desk at work SM.

But at home he and my SIL also use a double peroclator - caffeine freaks that they are.

  6. FH, I've pet-sat in a few houses that have a Keurig, and they're awesome! They're so easy to use and you can have a cup of coffee in no time without all the clean-up.
Unfortunately I'm not drinking coffee (sometimes decaf, though) now, but when I was, I was planning on buying myself a Keurig.

  7. My ears are perked--a double perculator? Sounds like I need to check into that!

  8. FH, this isn't going to be super helpful, but when we moved into our new headquarters several years ago the company put Keurig single-serve coffee makers in all the break rooms. About 3 months ago they took them away - people were stealing too many of the K cups to use at home! Grrrr on stupid people. That said, they do make decent coffee, but the K cups are expensive.

  9. One of my co-workers has one and absolutely loves it. She got her's at Kohl's on a sale.

  10. My husband is the coffee drinker in this house; though we do not own that specific brand he has the single cup maker as well. His has a setting for a 4oz cup, and 8oz cup or a 16oz cup. Makes it nice when he need coffee for his thermos for work but doesn't want to waste half a pot because i wont drink the rest. Also comes in handy when he needs it made QUICK, it takes less then a minute to brew a 4oz cup and only 3 and a half minutes to Brew a 16oz cup(so the box says)...either way he seems pretty found of it.

  11. Anyone say Coffee..sniff sniff....Mmmm! Sorry, I don't own one ?yet?! Sounds like a handy thing to have for a coffee-holic like moi! It is going on my list from Santa...thanks Fonda!

  12. Glad to be of service, JK! :)

Let's see, I have a mini coffee pot at school that I never use.
I have a big Gevalia coffee pot at home that I never use.
I have an expresso machine at home that I used to use all of the time.

I love coffee, but am too lazy to deal w/it in the mornings. I figured that this little machine might make it so easy that I might start drinking coffee in the morning again. At least I could pour it into a thermal cup and take it with me!

  13. Easy they definitely are. But they're also expensive, both the machines & the K cups, and they create a lot of garbage (if you care about that sort of thing).

  14. I've used one at a hotel also..I liked it!

  15. I got one last Christmas and I love it! I especially like the different varieties of coffee and tea, even hot cocoa. My favorite is the Emeril's Extra Bold. I buy the k-cups at Bed Bath & Beyond; I joined their club and get 20% off coupons in the mail about every other week. Then I buy the box of 18 which sells for 9.99, making it only 7.99. For evenings I use the Green Mountain French Roast Decaf--I even make iced coffee with it.

  16. How do you joing their club, SM?

Have you tried their Cafe Mocha? I have a huge bottle of Starbuck's Raspberry syrup that I'd love to mix with it :)

  17. I've been wondering about these too. I'm the only who drinks coffee usually, and even then I only have 2 cups of regular (at most), and then the rest decaf. I hate futzing around with a coffee maker and pot, so I've been drinking instant. It did seem expensive to me and - like Kilroy says - I suspected there would be a lot of rubbish with all those K cups. But I do also like the idea of being able to make differnt drinks.

Can you make tea with it?

Posted 2 years ago by Rubia in CA, 4/28 #

  18. I priced the K cups, and a cup of coffee ends up costing around 50 cents. This is expensive, but I'm thinking that it might be more cost effective, in the long run, than buying a can of coffee and then throwing most of it out because it's so old.

One of the reviews I read mentioned how good the Earl Grey tea is, Rubia, so I'm assuming that they have tea, too :)

  19. They even have hot chocolate!!!! :)

And a 50 cent cup of coffee is better than a $2.00 cup at a pick-up place somewhere. And you can just put a to go container under it when you make the coffee - no pouring necessary!

Posted 2 years ago by GreatDane #

  20. To answer Rubia's question, yes, the K cups come in tea as well as coffee & hot chocolate.

ETA: Oops, just noticed that FH already answered.

  21. FH, my uncle has one and he loves it; I've tasted the coffee and it is very good. We use Gevalia by the pot at our house because we drink so much coffee ;-) I think it sounds perfect for you! Go for it!

Posted 2 years ago by kittymom #

  22. Go to their website for club info; I don't order that much at once as I don't have room in this apt. to store it. They now have special teas to make iced tea, though I haven't tried it yet. They have many teas including the herbals and flavors. My machine came with a large sampler pack which is also sold at BBB.

  23. One of the girls in my book club has one and it's always a treat for me to go there and get to choice from the little K-cups. But they are rather expensive.

FH, keep your coffee in the freezer and it will last practically forever.
