  1. Sorry I haven't been around lately. I am absolutely flat out with uni work but I hope you are all doing well.

Anyways, I don't know why I never thought of doing it before but the other day I started purring to Willow to see what he would do.
Well he immediately began purring too...really loudly.
How funny! It must make him happy when he thinks I'm happy.

  2. Shadz and I purr to each other all the time, if she's upset by something it seems to help calm her. It's just one of our ways of communicating with each other. Keep doing it Jj. BTW, it's great to see you posting again and I hope you can relax soon with the holidays looming.

  3. Same as Moonshadow, I purr to my cats. It seems to calm them if they are upset (monthy fire alarm check ect.)

  4. I try to respond whenever my kits vocalize. I talk to them and often try to mimic their sounds. They seem to enjoy it, because they increase their vocalizations when I do it. (I'm getting better at trilling! lol)

  5. That's just what I was going to ask -- how on earth do you guys purr? (I can miaow but purring...) If it's anything like rolling your 'r's, I already know I can't do it...

  6. Sorry Jcat, if you can't roll your 'r's then I don't think you can purr. One of the girls can't roll her 'r's to purr to Shadz and the other can't whistle to get Shadz home.

  7. hey jcat you still might be able to do it. I can create a purr from the back of the throat which doesn't use much tongue action. Sooooo hard to explain over the internet but I kind of push my tongue against my teeth and as I breathe out I let the back of my throat vibrate.

  8. You're right Jj, you can purr that way. now Jcat can try and purr to Libby & Jasper.

  9. Thanks, JJ, I can do it! but it sounds slightly scarey when I do it, sort of creepy heavy breather, lol. I will see how the kitties react.

MS, I can't roll my 'r's OR whistle! I have no talents!

  10. I'm guilty of purring to all my kits...And I whisper in their ear that I love them also. It gets them purring even louder. They must understand. :)

  12. Yay Jcat. I know what you mean by heavy breather, that's what I sound like trying it that way but if the kits enjoy it then it doesn't matter.
