   She might get to come home. I think I might have gotten a little bit pushy with the Dr and RN yesterday. They still had her hooked up to the push button pain meds and everything else. I asked, how can she ever go home if she still has all that stuff...oh yeah, maybe we should start her on pain pills and get her walking around a bit...DUH. By the afternoon she was walking the halls, off IV and on pain pills...one step at a time.

   I am really glad I am here and hopefully I can see how this goes and see is if can handle staying by herself...Feels like I have been here 10 days and it has only been one...lol

   Good for you Alicia. Keep on them. Sometimes the physicians and nurses need a push and like Shelley said, be that advocate..you will get results! Both of you are in my prayers.

   That is absolutely wonderful that you will be able to take her home. She is very lucky to have you as an advocate. I think sometimes they forget their own advice about how important it is to get up and move and get off of the IV pain meds. Please know my prayers for you both have not stopped, I lit a candle for you. May you continue to have the strength to help your Mom and please enjoy every minute with her.

    Alicia...I'm so glad your there by your Mom's side. I'm certain she will continue to improve with your presence. It's great your getting the staff moving toward your Mom getting off the IV meds & getting her moving around.

    You must be a great comfort to your mom, Alicia! It is so difficult for a person who is not feeling well or on heavy medication to ask the docs the right questions or ask for help. You rock!!! Your Mom is in my prayers.
