  1. I'm glad Stumpie is your baby Skyron. God put him in the right hands (yours and ur vets) and I pray he gives this boy many more happy days with his mommy.

  2. Another day over with Stump acting like any other normal kitten. Playing, eating, sleeping, and getting into trouble . . . Starting to get my hopes up again :/

  3. Wow. Reading Patrick's story today made me realise how close I actually came to losing Stump 3 weeks ago. All I can say is I love my vet. I never mentioned this in my post - before we took Stump to our regular vet we took him to an emergency clinic first. They said he had swallowed a bug, and was having an allergic reaction to it. Thank God I decided to go with my gut and wake up my vet. I wish there was some way of showing my vet how much he means to us. Stump isn't the first of our babies pulled back from the brink by that man. Even the strangest, most un-heard of diseases you can think of, he always gets the diagnosis right, first time round. He even apologised to me for only being able to confirm his suspicion of toxo a day after we took him in. Any suggestions on what to get a completely un-emotional man you barely know to say thank you?

  4. Aw Skyron so good to hear...maybe you can bake your vet some x-mas treats as a sign of appreciation? Men always seem to appreciate food...and beer lol

  5. A holiday card on which you write to him what you've written to us about him would be nice. If you know what holiday he celebrates, you can get him a specific card, and if you don't, a general one would do.

The cookies are a good idea, too.

  6. Yes! especially if he is single or divorced, food always seems to go down well with men! (Heck, it goes down well with women too, if they haven't had to cook it themselves.) If he drinks alcohol, then a bottle of nice wine or spirits (no one seems to object to a good malt whiskey) would also be good. And, whatever you choose, a card saying how wonderful you think he is (and his diagnostic skills are) would be lovely to receive, no matter how unemotional he is.

I think I would also write to your local vets magazine or the South African veterinary association, singing his praises to the skies. It would be nice if his peers got to hear how great he is at his job!

  7. We had to sit in his office today for Stump's zapper treatment because all the other consult rooms were occupied. The man has CRATES full of beer back there, bottles and bottles of expensive red wine, even a chocolate cake . . . Things in bags that have never been opened. I have come to be weary of the boxes in his office though. Once encountered a medium-sized crocodile in an inconspicuous-looking box in his office . . .

  8. Ohhh, sounds like his other patients appreciate him too! That definitely makes it harder... And rats, he already has a crocodile, there goes that idea ;-)

  9. Hm, you might have to get some flowers delivered to his office, or a bunch of balloons. Those would be hard to ignore.

  10. ROFLMAO at Jcat! Your vet sounds like a complete angel - definitely sing his praises to his peers.

  11. ROTFLMAO at Jcat too.
Skyron maybe you could give him a large box of band aids for those inevitable crocodile/cat/dog/etc oops moments.

  12. You could always have him an edible arrangement sent to the office.

Or bake a bunch of cupcakes with a big pawprint shape on the icing. ^o^

  13. Stump continues to hop along, and play, and catch bugs, and leaves, and annoys his older brothers endlessly . . . Child really looks better. Suppose I cant say he's cured, but he has definitely had a very good week so far. Today is exactly 3 weeks (I think) since we got the FIV diagnosis =)

  14. Hope your little Bug-Catcher gets better and better everyday...
Get your vet a holiday card, signed by you and Stumpie (press his little chocolate milk-covered little paw on it) :)

  15. In case anyone is interested, dr Peck kept the crocodile =) It lives in his pool. Has already eaten 1 of his (wife's) smaller dogs, so he had the pool fenced off, and it now looks more like a pond . . .

  16. Holey moley, it ATE one of his wife's dogs? Does he still have a wife? He obviously doesn't have a swimming pool any more...

Aww, Stumpie, bless his little bug-eating heart!
