I heard somewhere that you are supposed to give your cat a bath even when its an indoor cat.
Is that true?

Depends on the cat. If it's a long-haired cat like a Persian, then you will definitely need to bathe them. If it's a regular short haired one, you don't, unless they get into something they can't clean off of themselves easily or safely.

Hi, how's everybody tonight? I've got two indoor kitties, and I've never given them a bath. They groom themselves (and each other) quite regularly, and are very clean. They don't seem to mind water (I adopted them at about 5 years old, so I don't know if they were bathed before) and jump into the bathtub with me. They don't like it when I turn on the shower, though. And they love to drink from a slow running faucet.

I bathed Huddy just once when he was a flea infested baby. Maverick has never had a bath. Sebastian has really long hair, but he loves being brushed, so I don't bathe him, either. (Or he USED to love being brushed, now he hates it in his old age. My poor old man, his teeth are falling out).

I give the Bob a bath about every 3 weeks to - hopefully - help reduce the cat dander and relieve my allergies just a little. Also, Bob is NOT very good about cleaning himself, it seems to me! He hates the baths and tries to escape every time. It was a lot easier when he was just a few pounds, but it's worth it - he looks and smells so nice after a bath!
