  1. Hey all, sophie has never done this before so I thought I would write to see if it was anything serious. This morning she kept going in and out of the box....and then when she did go poo, when she came out she rubbed her bumm against hte floor and left a streak of poo and litter behind. When I checked the box, it wasn't diaherea and there was no blood. And she did pee a bunch in the box and it didn't look like there was blood either. I have also seen her a few days ago, just hang out inside the litterbox for no apparent reason

So was it just she got something stuck on her bum or something more serious? Should I take her to the vet?

  2. I know my dogs do that when they have worms?? Rub their bums on the lawn, or soil, or whatever else seems to scratch the itch. Either that, or blocked anal glands; but again, that's dog knowledge, dont know if it applies to cats.

  3. I'd call the vet's office and ask to talk to the vet about Sohpie's problem or leave a message with the vet to call you back. Most vet's will take the time to talk to you for a few minutes and tell you what to look for before bringing her in.

  4. Oh my. Hopefully it is just litter stuck to the bum! *sigh* likely not, the vet office doesn't open for another hour. I'll call and see if they recommend taking her in.

  5. See, my kitten is doing this too. Only the butt dragging part, and it's whenever, not after she goes to the bathroom. And She was doing this before her last visit and I told the vet about it so they expressed her glands and seemed to imply she had a lot to express. And she was even given worm medication that day too. But she still scoots her butt. Hm. I looked at her butt a few times and I'll see teeny clumps of poo, so maybe that's it. Or, she just has an itchy bottom.

  6. My vet seems to think its just cuz a) she has something stuck to her fur she wanted to get off and b) she might be constipated and I sure give her more water. I am going to monitor it for a bit and see what happens. She saws it could be the glands, but since Sophie was deformed a few months ago..she didn't think it was worms.
