I just noticed that the usual dry cat food that I get, is lighter in color this time. Expiry date is dec 2010. What could be the cause? Is it still save to give to my cats? Because they like it and never have any problems with it. Thanks

If it smells okay I'd think it is okay. You don't know if they add dye to the food to make it browner, some companies do that (just to make it look like more meat). They could have not added dye - that is the only thing I can think of.

When the food loses color like that, going from dark to lighter in color it is usually associated with the food drying. The food is still fine and go ahead and feed it too your cat but try to close the bag frequently and remove all the air from the bag before you close it. This will reduce the evaporation that occurs.
