Dashing Through the Snow Question #2

(5 posts)
  1. Isn't it everyones dream to win a big lottery? How many have office lottery pools that buy tickets together? How would you all be affected if you won the lottery, and if someone forgot/couldn't put their dollar in, and your group won would you share with that person?

  2. Ok, I've been waiting for this question! Just last Friday, the same day I started reading this book, we played the MegaMillions. We're playing again today and if no one hits, we'll play on Friday. We all have made the same disclaimer: if I am not in the office, please put in for me!

  3. Our group would share. Whenever the lotto gets big there are a few of us who pool our money and play. Whenever somebody is short or not here, somebody else always puts that person's share in.

I'm not sure how it would affect me - winning a big bunch of money, because I'm not a money oriented person. I've been well off and I've been homeless and everything in between. I might buy a nice cabin in the woods somewhere, buy stuff for my friends and family. But that's about it.

  4. I think that most people can relate to the lottery issue--which makes it a good story. A little back ground there was a letter to the authors about such a situation, a group that won on December 12th--their winners won on December 11th. It was an interesting true story. Also another group used the premise of this book to sue when there group won, but 4 didn't play and they think they deserve a piece.

A big enough lottery and I will have a cabin up on Mt. Lemon and that is where you will find me during the summer!! Have to say I don't think I'd quit my job--I love teaching and can't imagine not being in my classroom!

  5. I have never been in an office/workplace group lottery ticket. There was a very nice co-worker who used to put them in a Christmas card for each of us at one place that I worked. If ever I had won a jackpot of any type I would have split it with her. I am not very money oriented either. A modest little home in the country where I could have a dog, lots of cats and a horse are all I would want for myself. The rest would go to animal and human charities. I once worked at a big department store and one of the carriage boys won a fairly big jackpot. About eighty thousand dollars I think it was. It was very exciting news, he was a very nice person, a lot like Duncan.
