  1. Crinkle was such a sweet boy at the vet today! He came home with a clean bill of health and ate some lunch! He's taking a sweet little kitten nap in my shirt right now. (I guess he likes it cuz it's warm and smells like mommy!) I'm so glad he's good to go! Hopefully he'll be a good boy today while mommy cleans the house for our Christmas company!

Merry Christmas to all of you and thanks again for all your wise words of advice!

  2. Great news he is healthy. Oooh... company. VERY stressful for animals. May I suggest that you keep him sequestered with his litter box and food/water (away from the box) and lots of toys and something comfy that smells like mommy. Make sure he doesn't get into any plants/flowers and definitely no people food!

  3. I had a friend over last weekend and Crinkle loved her. He's definitely showing signs of being a wonderful people-cat! I'm hoping he's the same for my parents who are coming over. They'll be spending a few nights here for Christmas. I think Crinkle will be fine though, like I said, he loves meeting new people...even the vet said he could tell he was an extrovert and the vet tech fell in love the second he licked her hand. He's quite a little charmer!!!

  4. Oh! I was thinking more along the lines of a party... smaller groups, single and two's, should be fine! Merry Christmas!

  5. Great news! Patience is rewarded. You are a good kitten mommy for sticking it out. Have a great Christmas!

  6. You might also want to think of getting Crinkle a little buddy. Two kittens take out most of their excess energy on each other and won't scratch you nearly as much. Another thing that has worked for us instead of shouting at them is to growl. It doesn't even have to be loud. We took that cue from watching our older cats deal with the kittens. A good deep growl and they stop what ever they are doing immediately. Hissing can also be effective, like when Crinkle starts to climb you leg, a loud hiss can stop them. Nothing like speaking like the natives!

  7. You might want to try taking a kitten bed on the corner of the bed so your kitten can sleep with you in your room and put a blanket in it a really soft one but one that can be washed. put a litter box in your room get it a scratching post or stuffed animal. if it wants up then you can keep telling him no but... try picking him up.

  8. Just to chime in that I would give him more than one week before deciding to get rid of him. As to his meowing, put him in a room far from your bedroom and use earplugs to sleep. Your sleep is vital. It's great that he's healthy and maybe with love and time he will outgrow the urination problem.

  9. i like the name crinkle alot! it's unque and sounds cool. when i was a kid, onbe of our neighbours had a cat named gobar. i think it was supposed to be a combo on the owner n his wife's initial or something to that extent. as for mr pee pee pants, try rubbing his nose in it gently when he goes, and spraying a spray of tabasco sauce with water around the area (as long as it won't stain anything). if you can catch him before he does the act, or when he's about ready to, spray him gently with a bit of water. as for the meowing and such, if possible, find crinkle a little room he'll feel comfortable in, and play some soothing music on the radio at a decent level. remember that cats can hear much better than we can so you don't need it very loud. if ypu just got the cat, chances are he's not used to his enviroment, and simply giving him up without giving him time would be like tossing a kid out that yopu recently adopted just because they are a big commitment. cats like people can go thru trauma being thru many homes, so it's best if we try to curb this as best we can. eityher way, welcome, and you've come to a supportive bunch!

  11. Merry! How's little Crinkle doing? Did he have a nice Christmas?

  12. Thank you so much to everyone who has contributed to this thread... you've all made me feel so much better! Crinkle cat had a wonderful Christmas and between him, all the Christmas festivities and cleaning up after all the company, I haven't had a spare moment to get on here to update you all. He's doing wonderfully though. We're keeping him out of the bedroom at night since he'll only sleep for a few hours and then wake us up wanting to play. He'll meow a few times and then he's good to go. Hopefully when he's older he'll be able to sleep with us.

He's an amazing little boy though and we're definitely keeping him... his first week was just a little rough. The intuition of a cat never ceases to amaze me though. I woke up around 4:30 in the morning today (his favorite time to run around and play) and I had a severe migraine headache... (they'll get to me 2 or 3 times a year) and I didn't want to wake my boyfriend so I came out to the couch and laid down while I waited for some medicine to kick in. Crinkle came up to me with a quick meow, nudged my chin, and curled up with me on my chest. It's like he knew something was wrong and was just happy to see me. What a wonderful kitty! I had forgotten how much of a joy it is to have a cat around the house. They provide so much love and warmth and comfort. I already don't know what I'd do without him!

  13. Awwww, thanks for the update, Merry. Sounds like you have a new best friend. I hope you'll have the pleasure of his company for many, many years.

  14. I so glad you are keeping him, and I love that the name Crinkle has stuck.

  15. I hope you don't have to give him away! give him a training pad to prevent him from spreading urine everywhere, and maybe, sleep with him if possible. provide him a stuffed animal, or buy another cat too!
