  1. Way back in July when I was a pretty new TDKer I posted a poem I'd written the night before I said a final farewell to my beloved Titch. Lots of people said at the time they liked it, and were going to copy it...well I posted it again tonight for Beanie's owner (the link on the Really Touching Story thread), and thought as we've grown so much in the last few months, some of the newer additions to our wonderful family might also like and take some comfort from it. So here it is :

    Night night furball
    Close your eyes
    Dream of chasing butterflies
    Basking in the sunshine
    Jumping up trees
Exciting smells in a gentle breeze

    Sleep tight furball
    Love you little friend
I’m so sorry this is the end
    Thanks for the laughter
    Thanks for the tears
Thanks for all the loving years

    God bless furball
    Don’t be afraid
I know that you can be brave
    Be peaceful in passing
    Enjoy what’s in store
    In furball heaven
    It won’t hurt anymore

  2. OH my goodness.... I don't recall that from the first time around. That is beautiful... and sadly I may need to pass it along soon. A dear friend is about to lose her Skye. He's 17 and not much more than skin and bones.

  3. This poem is for anyone and everyone to pass onto to whoever they think it might help. We've all been there, it's horrible. My love to your friend One Popoki.

  4. OP, my prayers are with your friend. It's hard to lose a member of your family, but it sometimes is the best thing.

  5. That's beautiful. I'm sitting here in tears - just as well I'm working from home today. Thank you MCW.

I've written eleguies to some of my beloved babies, but nothing quite so.... so.... universal.

  19. Dang it MCW, now I'm bawling again. Thanks for posting it, I guess I missed it other time around. Boy, it sure seems like our family has lost a lot of beloved friends lately. A ray of good news was hearing about your mum, so how nice to know the move is soon.

  27. Thank you, MCW. I read it aloud so that Jiggs could hear my voice from Cat Heaven. *snif* Sad, but happy because he's ok now and God will make sure I see him again someday.

  30. I wrote this one for Huddy's Mama a while back. I hope you don't mind me sharing it again. It was therapeutic for me as well:

There is something special about the love from a cat.
Our felines choose us, Now how about that?
Freedom, independence, no rules-that's the life
With sharp teeth and claws, not strangers to strife.
And yet they choose us and devoted they stay,
Multiplying our love with each passing day.
We feed them and pamper them, for we are in their debt.
They made the willing journey, from dumpster cat to pampered pet.
Through ups and through downs, our most devoted friends.
Even the hardest times, furry love transcends.
Some of us are lucky, and share with them many years.
And yet still the end comes, and we cry many tears.
Don't fret human mama, cry for your feline child.
Your tears fill the river to carry him long miles.
There sits the Rainbow Bridge just around that next bend.
A lovely place to wait until you are reunited again.
